Personal history

Jackie Chandragon is a scholar with a nache for camping and a reckless abandon that belies his perceptiveness. He is a student of the Voelstragen College of the Arcane and has studied under the tutelage of his Uncle, a renowned wizard and proprietor of an antique shop within in empire. But life wasn't always so auspicious for Jackie. As a child he was the son of peasants who made a living begging on the streets and scavenging for scraps. What little they could muster was squandered on various drugs and opiates for his parents and soon, with no recourse to feed their addiction they sold him wholesale to a group of Drow slavers. It was his uncle who found and bought back his freedom, earning him eternal gratitude and reverence from Jackie.
 
His uncle then made sure to school him in the ways of history and magic and when the time came he was sent off to school to be a wizard and archaeologist. The academy was a place of cut-throat competition, politically motivated backstabbings and, frankly, an outdated understanding of non human races. Unfortunately, buckling under the pressures of academic life, and after a fiasco that left one historical dig site destroyed, he was expelled. Rather than return in shame, Jackie spent the next couple years living amongst Goblins in the mountains and mapping the civilizations and ruins that lay scattered in their territories-sites that were previously inaccessible to the scholars at his old school. It is there he did find a peculiar trinket that could potentially point him towards an historic finding and with that he rushed off to show his findings to his Uncle.
 
When he finally did return to his Uncle's shop he learned that an old enemy, Rubiliscious Ringworm, had decided to foreclose on the quaint shop unless he proved their monetary potential with a rare artifact unlike any She had ever seen before, and paid off the remainder of what uncle owed for his freedom. Feeling this was a chance to help even the widening chasm of debt he owed his Uncle, he set off to find something worthwhile.

Education

Uncle gave Jackie a balanced education of magics as well as a healthy knowledge of history that he believed was necessary for any individual to understand his place in the world. Uncle also made sure he was well versed in nature magic, which he considered "good magic". Because only good magic can defeat bad magic.
 
In the college Jackie learned first and foremost about the superiority of the human race from a variety of dry, dusty books and some equaly dry dusty professors.
 
Once he left the college and lived amongst the Goblins he was initially chased out and attacked, but eventually, once he offered a number of shiny items for trade, learned their way of life and how to speak their language. They taught him the importance of mischeif and how to not second guess yourself and GO instead of wasting time being indecisive.

Employment

Jackie likes uncovering dig sites and delving into dungeons. He hates when dig sites are destroyed and when dungeons are ignored.

He once hit a target with his arrow from the other side of a tree.

Failures & Embarrassments

He failed college and was kciked out when a dig site he was in charge of was destoryed, but Jackie suspects foul play and sabotage.

Mental Trauma

His childhood trauma from his impoverished upbringing with ffrequent users and his being sold into slavery by his own parents left him with an understandable hatred of indentured servitude, slavery and prison. He also copes with a lot of his trauma with drug use himself. Its hard to say whether or not he is trying to get closer to his parents, or if his parents left him with an ironic crutch as a final curse.

Intellectual Characteristics

Jackie will always seek out truth and follow the path that leads to light and understanding. Even his own unfortunate hatred of elves is permiated by the radiance of knowledge and experiences that undercut those prejudices. He wishes to truly uncover and preserve as many truths as possible.

Morality & Philosophy

Morality and divine guidance are not Jackie's wheelhouse, but he generally believes in the good in people and tries to do what is right. While he tries to uphold the spirit of the law, he isn't opposed to going about clandestine and underhanded means if it means achieving his goals. He is more of a cultural worshipper, he will humor his Uncle in the worship of Delleb, God of knowledge and reason.

Motivation

Jackie wishes to prove his worth to hisuncle by finding something worthy of his shop and precious enough for Rubiliscious Ringworm. He also wishes to excavate and lead his own expiditions to discover a civilization no one else knew and unlock secrets that have been lost to time and political tampering. He would also love to open up a museum of history one day to teach others about the many artifacts he'd found on his adventures.

Jackies only real relationships are with his Uncle, Uncle; Tito, uncle's assistant; and Jade, his neice that comes to visit occaisionally. He also is well acquainted with some professors and students at the college, but generally has strong disdain for their prissy and arrogant ways. He also is friend to and welcome to the Goblin village of Cogshanx where he used to live in and knows a number of friendly Goblins that consider him friends.
