Viktors thoughts

by Prodigy of House Helden Viktor Helden

I was invited by Count Gerard Schumann, by letter, after my family made arrangements to be sent out into a world that needs guidance and to make a name for myself. I took a ship from my families land on the Crescent Island, I have landed in Innsweg which is a town in which my liege, Count Gerard Schumann resides over.

Lord Schumann served with my grandfather on his many adventures in his youth as a honorable knight and vicious warrior but age has caught up to him. When I met with him I could tell that he had some issues but he wasn't a battered old man by any means. I have been tasked by my liege to help him rid the region of the bandit problems as he can barely spare the men to defend his own holdings. Learning that the bandits have begun uniting under a singular leader who is claiming the South for his own.

He had a Knight waiting to join me in this escapade who seemed vary capable but cold so we departed to the Cathedral to seek some assistance. Awkwardly enough I was able to find a Cleric, Monk and Paladin which quickly joined out cause as it fit their own tasks but it surprised me when I stumbled across my brother of all people. We headed off to the local tavern to rest before we departed and ran into a Gnoll Bard of all things who invited himself into our party. The Knight upheld earned title and got us free rooms and food for the night thanks to the guard who backed his story. I got a little drunk and don't remember much.

We went to say goodbye to Count Schumann but he was indisposed at the moment and it gave me some worry. We were able to acquire a wagon and I donated one of my light horses to pull some of our team and headed South guided by the Gnoll who had a "friend" just down the road. Turned out to be about 2 hours of riding before we were looking at the crossbow of this so called friend. The man was nice enough and offered us some tasty mead but I wasn't feeling drinking this day. He had a an impressive greatsword mounted and a empty bed which was for his former wife who he lost.

He mentioned dealing with some bandits recently and notified us they were coming back with force, I did not take this well but luckily we were able to come up with a plan. 7-8 hours until sunset we set up some barricades and put our pawns in the correct positions. We were to capture at least one of the bandits so we could begin stringing together information about the situation. They arrived just in time and with a brilliant show of presence from our Knight, Sir Karling, the bandits already were shaking in their boots. My brother used his divine might and was able to paralyze who we assumed was the party leader which caused the bandits to retreat immediately.

Bringing in this Half elven ranger girl, was able to get a vague idea of the chain of command that's being enforced in the region. Her direct boss is a dwarf named Sveti Seven-Toes who apparently has a Peg leg and the other foot has seven toes on it which he proudly keeps uncovered for people to see. Above him is still unknown for now.

At the end of the day, the strange group of people I found in my company. Each of them seem to have their strengths and weaknesses so I feel we are well enough rounded to begin our campaign south.

A few thoughts on these fellows as I've only had a day or so with them.

Sir Heinrich Karling, a megalomaniac sociopath knight who doesn't even give a shit of someones quality to make them a knight as he sounds like every military's recruiter but without the rules. As such he seems like he's trying to reach his recruitment goal for the month. He seems to think you're with him, or you die which I can see becoming a problem in the future. While I have no issues killing people who would cause us harm, I am not a fan of killing for the sake of killing.

Cleric of the Allfather, Malik... Helden?... I can't get a full read on.. my.. brother because my only talking points are school, family and things I was privileged to learn which are all just constant reminders to Malik how he was denied all of that. Being blessed by the Allfather has made me very excited, but also worried because I have never gave much faith into religion and now I am at an impasse on how to embrace it to possibly to touch with Malik.

Paladin, Initiate of the Allfather, Lalsan what a beautiful, air headed, large sized woman. She is very kind and just as strong and her faith and believe in the Allfather is boundless. But all I see when I look at her is a super attractive barrier in battle, a pile of armor which has proven to be as easy to deal with as saying Amen or Allfather once and a while. Any commitment to her patron causes this smile to shine brightly from her face. She is enjoyable and has already proven useful in... some overly done social situations.

The "Bard" Zoz or Manny? This is one where I am at a loss. A gnoll? Killed a few in my day. Bards? Never was a fan of whimsical stories and sub-par 1 man bands. He smells like a dog when he gets wet and while the laugh isn't terrible, it's always there. Outside that, I'm a fan of hygiene and silence and he seems to be the villain in that story. I also have no idea what his goals are or why he joined us to easily and readily. I was half expecting his "friend" in the south to just be a ambush.

The Tiefling Monk, Zev... having always been fascinated by the occurrence of hybrid humanoids from oreads, ifrits and now Tieflings. I feel for this poor man but finds solace and comfort in his ways. I've never accounted much for meditation but I can relate this to my studies as a personal form of meditation. He's one of the only people who seems to have an answer to anything even if it's just a state of mind and seems to have no alternative motive.

Reunited with brother!

Fate seems to have brought my brother and I back together on a similar quest. I don't know his motives nor can I read his thoughts but I am glad he doing well.
