Project Riptide

Riptide was part of an secret experiment headed by the Dragonmarked House Vadalis , raising him as a secret weapon, the perfect soldier. He was always told that the "Warden," Alister Ir'Cain, created him for this project. Rip was devoted to his training, hoping to one day make his master proud and prove himself.
 
When he was 18, Alister began sending Rip on missions (wartime?), to utilize his strengths. These missions ranged from retrieving important docs to killing. Not long after Rip started this missions, his mentor Dr. Rubina Deck D'Vadalis left the Facility one day, unannounced. None of the others in the Facility would mention her or listen when he brought up questions about her.
 
When he was 25, Rip was sent on mission to eliminate an excoriate member of the house that defected and ran away with house secrets. Upon locating the individual, he sees that his target is Dr.Rubina Beck formerly of House Vadalis, the only member of the house that treated Rip like a person rather than a weapon, being the only positive memories during his younger years and being the closest thing to a mother he has. Rip needed to know what happened that turned her against the house, so he spoke with her, in that moment of mercy she gave him a Dragonshard Crystal with information about him and the Facility that changed his life. Rubina told him that Alister did not create him and that he was meant for more than just being a weapon for Last War. When asked if she knew anything about his true origins, Rubina was killed by another assassin sent by Alister Ir'Cain. Rip hadn't even known that he was being tailed. The last words she said was "Save the others". He felt betrayed, angry and lost.
 
He managed to escape the assassin and flee to Sharn where he laid low, thinking of his life and his next move with the dragonshard in hand. About a year later, following dead ends, he realizes that he won't be able to do this alone, and heads to the Clifftop Adventuring Guild to seek out a party that could help him find his origin and get his revenge. To protect himself he dawns the name Beck Undertow in honor of the only person that was willing to tell him the truth.
