Loken was born into poverty to his parents who's name he did not know. When he was still a very young age him and his family were stricken with a fatal disease and in his parents desperation they made a pact with a devil to save Loken and watch over him. The patron agreed and took him away to the Duke and Duchess of his hometown. The dutchess wanted a boy of her own after many failed attempts. They took him in as their own. For years Loken lived a privileged life with his adoptive parents. Sigfried and Elizabet Proudmourne. He had an older step sister name Jade who he considered his best friend. When Loken was 18 the town fell into corruption. Gangs, thugs and thievery run rampant with the Duke doing nothing about the growing crime. A year later Loken came across his mothers study unlocked, door ajar and an ominous purple light peaking out. Being the inquisitive soul he was he decided to investigate to which he happened upon the tome where the light was coming from. He opened the tome but couldn't read the language. As he turned the page the tome's defenses activated and struck him with a powerful spell that should have taken his life but the patrons protection prevented the death. He came too a few seconds later and was about to run away but as he glaced at the pages he saw the words as clear as english. He decided to carry on reading to which is mother entered the study and the book clamped shut. Never to open again. She took him captive. Torturing him for 10 years. Trying to reveal what he knew about the tome's sudden sealing. Telling the town he fled after attempting her life. When Loken was 29 Nisa, his mothers patron revealed herself and offered him the power to escape if he made a pact with her to which he agreed. He escaped killing several of his mothers thugs and stealing his sisters prized pistol. As he was making his escape a confrontation with his mother at the estates escape tunnel she managed to place a curse on his mind blocking his memories. As the curse was placed a single pistol shot was returned hitting her in the chest. The shot caused his mother to recoil in pain and a shimmer of an illusion briefly broke revealing her to be a hag in disguise. Loken has been on the run since...although by now he doesn't know what he's running from. Only that if he stops it will catch up.
