I grew up on my father's estate in the Basque area to the south of France. We are part of the Tarbelli tribes, living in Labourd. My family lives in the trading city of Oiasso, on the banks of the Bidasoa river. There I was trained in the arts, history, music, riding, sailing, and dueling. I believe in the oblige noblesse and I live to a large degree to serve. I also live to live, as it were, and i intend to live life large. I massively enjoy my time whether amongst nobles or commoners, though I think my father thinks I should probably strike a more regal pose among both.
In general, I think everything is awesome, and I say that a lot to remind people how awesome everything is, and how awesome people are. Everything comes naturally to me, and somewhere between luck and skill I have succeeded in everything I have tried. Because being awesome is awesome.
While I was trained formally in my fighting style, I also studied magic with my grandmother for many years before she died, and have secretly kept up the practice. Rumor has it that grandmother had some fey blood in her, and frankly I like to think that it's true. Because magic in my veins is awesome.
Dad felt like going out and experiencing the world a bit would be good for me, and sent me with a letter recommending me to the local noble, Lord Caleti, where I've done some work at court that dad asked about, (notably setting up trade routes by sea) and am exploring some potential trade options that might have some mutual benefit. That work seems to have paid off, and not just because negotiations are now in full flight, but I can more or less live at leisure while the scribes and sages do their official thing to hammer out the details. Me, I'm just an idea guy. So lately i've just been hanging out for a while, enjoying the local hospitality and frequenting the local dives. I'm also rather besotted by the northern girls. Not any one in particular, just whichever one happens to be on my arm at the moment. Because being in love is awesome.
I've struck up a friendship with Markus, the bodyguard for the little prince, who is also awesome, and I think the little dude is going to be a fine nobleman. I'm working on loosening him up a bit. At some point, he might be a great candidate to be the ambassador to our city when this trade deal is signed and stamped. But these things move glacially slow, and I've got time to kill on my hands.
