Appearance
Physical Description
Theus boasts a powerful build from years of exerting himself on the high seas. Large and well toned muscles adorn his body that stands with vigorous vitality. Despite his girth there is a quickness to his step as well, a dexterity trained from balancing smoothly during the worst of storms that rocked his ship.
Body Features
Rough hair tied back in dreadlocks gleaming softly at the tips, patterned markings of blue and white across the skin, and pointed fins along his arms and calves make Theus a rather exotic looking individual to those who don't know of his kind. To those who do he appears as a Triton more adapted to the darkest depths of the ocean than is typical.
Facial Features
Theus has sooth angular features despite his large build. Neatly trimmed eye brows and lips that always seem to be curved into a smirk he appears as more of a rogue than anything else. What possibly stands out most however are his rather unsettling eyes, completely jet black save for deep blue irises.
Identifying Characteristics
Multiple gold bands adorn the dreadlocks of his hair and various scars run up and down his body signifying a life of struggle.
Most notably however is the slave mark of a blooming flower branded onto the back of his right hand, though this is rarely not covered.
Apparel & Accessories
A necklace of shark teeth adorn Theus' chest, trophies from successful hunts. He also wears various white cloths with blue wave patterns upon his person such as around his waist and draped over his shoulder. These garments signify his rank as a Sail Master.
Specialized Equipment
Clad in scale mail slightly rusted from the constant salty spray of the sea, Theus carries multiple items on his person such as ropes, a compass, and even a few throwing spears. None stand out more however than his favored weapon, a massive glaive with a wicked edge that he wields with masterful proficiency.
Special abilities
Like others of his kind, Theus possesses an affinity with the sea and its occupants. He can speak to aquatic creatures though he does not understand them in turn and once a day he can channel the water's power to bring forth fog, a gust of wind, or even surging walls of water.

Personal history
Born to two triton parents with a twin sister named Ashyn, Theus lived a largely mundane life beneath the sea. His village was small and peaceful, neighboring only a merfolk settlement and a port on an island not far off. Although Theus was content as a child to stay beneath the waters, Ashyn would routinely have him come with her to the surface so she could "listen to the wind", much to their parents constant scolding about the dangers involved. One of these visits would draw unwanted attention however, and a band of unsavory land dwellers would follow the two children who did not know better along the water's surface back to their village. What followed was a massacre. The land dwellers dove down in the middle of the night using magic and ambushed the village, cutting down those who resisted and chasing those who fled away to the merfolk. Although the triton took up arms to defend themselves surprise is a powerful element. When all was said and done, only Theus and Ashyn were left cowering and alive.
The twins were dragged onto the deck of the raiders ship and given their new role; slaves. The crew were apparently part of a infamous and large slavers guild and triton were rare and difficult to get a hold of. Lucky them. They were properly branded to be marked as property with the slaver's sign, a blooming flower. Theus was branded on the back of his right hand, while Ashyn's brand was burned into her left eye, effectively destroying it. What followed was several years of hard slavery as the two were forced to expose other villages of their kind, effectively condemning more triton to chains and granting their masters a grand profit. This continued until the siblings finally reached adulthood.
A great storm suddenly came and destroyed the slavers ship with thunderous lightning and massive waves. The sky set the ship ablaze and the sea threw it against the rocks with such force it was as if the gods themselves personally came to see justice delivered. Needless to say the twins wasted no time in fleeing to the ocean below. Now free, the two siblings were grateful but came to disagree on the source of their aid. Ashyn claimed it came from the god of the sky, Urian, who struck the ship's mast with his blades of light. Theus claimed it came from the god of the sea, Shalimyr, who shattered its hull with his great waves. Unable to come to a compromise on the identity of their savior the two parted ways, vowing to prove to the other who the mightier god was.
Theus would soon after join an infamous pirate crew and spend the next several years raiding the seas with them. He learned more of Shalimyr through the teachings of a Sail Master, and eventually became one himself, though he never did fully understand or agree with the tenets of the position. Theus would eventually cross paths with his sister once again however. With a shock that quite literally blew him off his feet he would learn his sister was one of the godchosen, one blessed with the divine power of the gods themselves. This infuriated him to no end, that his sister's prayers had been answered and empower while he only received silence. With such blatant proof that the gods were active in their realm and favored certain mortals Theus refused to remain ignored. He began a search for relics and artifacts that carried a strong connection with Shalimyr in hopes of forging a deeper bond with the sea and shattering this silence.
He would find one such relic, a crystalline pool of water called Shalimyr's Blood, hidden deep in a undersea cavern. After drinking of it he was blessed with unnatural vitality and his strikes in battle were empower by divine might. Not enough to satisfy him however, Theus continues to seek out more of these relics in hopes of becoming just like the godchosen and seizing the attention of the deity he so worships.
Education
Theus has very little in the way of education. His parents had barely finished teaching him how to read, something he still has difficulty with, when he was taken as a slave. Needless to say he received no education to speak of from his masters. Once he joined with the pirates however he received education in the form of experience with nautical instruments. Compasses, sails, and how to manage a ship. The teachings and faith of the Shalimyn were also imparted on him during this period.
Employment
Previously worked as a Sail Master among pirates, though after being separated from his crew one could say he is searching for a new captain.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Theus' most notable achievement would be his becoming a Sail Master, earning the respect, or at the very least acknowledgement, of all other sailors on the seas and proving his proficiency in naval pursuits.
Mental Trauma
Years of slavery has left its mark in more ways than one. Despite his tough outward appearance, Theus is horrified at the idea of being chained again and will ruthlessly cut down slavers he finds given the slightest provocation.
Intellectual Characteristics
Theus rarely wants anything to do with books or scrolls, finding the value of knowing the history of a land or the migration patterns of an animal pointless compared to ones skill in battle. He does enjoy a good story however, though he much prefers to hear it told from the mouth of a bard rather than read it in the pages of a book.
Morality & Philosophy
Theus is a large proponent of the idea of freedom of choice. In his mind it doesn't matter if an individual is courageous and kind, or fearful and cruel. It doesn't matter if they help or condemn others. The world will react to those actions as it will. What matters is that all have the opportunity to chose their actions and display their will to the world.
Much like other Sail Masters and Shalimyn he also holds great reverence for the sea, though this worship is often displayed differently from his peers. Where others of the faith would say to grovel before the sea's might and stay humble, Theus would say that the sea is the ultimate representation of struggle. Life will always have struggle and will always test you no matter how strong you become. Do not think of yourself as greater than the sea, but do not bow before it and surrender in humility. Meet its tests and grow stronger with each trial. Continue to do so time and again and your potential is limitless. This is Shalimyr's greatest gift.

Personality
Motivation
Theus wants to take what he was never given. To earn what others have been blessed with freely. He scours the seas searching for divine relics and artifacts that can bring him closer to Shalimyr in hopes that doing so will finally seize the attention of the silent god.
Other than that, his life is one of drifting from port to port, drinking, fighting, and laughing according to his whims.
Likes & Dislikes
A good fight, a stiff drink, and the spray of sea water are the things Theus enjoys most. Any chance to humiliate or one up his sister is also something he greatly relishes. Also booze.
Theus dislikes those who take things for granted or enjoy luxuries without having earned them. Nobles who were born to wealth, children who inherit their parents status, and the existence of Godchosen are all prime examples.
Virtues & Personality perks
Theus is very self confident and not one to ever back down in the face of danger. Insulting those he respects is like an insult to him and as such he can become a fierce, if overly aggressive, friend.
Vices & Personality flaws
That aggression doesn't stop at just defending himself and his friends. With a rather short temper hes prone to acting first and thinking later, which can result in unfortunate situations.
He also has a habit of enjoying his spirits and liquor a bit too much, which can render his stance as shaky on dry land as it would be on a a dingy in a storm.
Hygiene
As far as Theus is concerned, a good swim through the ocean is all that's needed to wash off the grime of a dirty day. Don't expect his personal quarters to be well organized or spotless either.

Religious Views
Acknowledges all the gods existence; the old, those of the fruit, and those of the womb. He only really cares about or prays to Shalimyr however, who he is extremely devoted to.
Social Aptitude
Theus is very confident and boisterous. Able to shout at crowds or stand uncowering before even the most powerful nobles. This confidence can be alluring or even inspiring under the right circumstances but it can back fire as well. He's not known for his social graces and can miss the delicacies of diplomacy or fail to 'read the room'. This often leads to him saying things he probably shouldn't have.
Hobbies & Pets
Enjoys drinking with the best of sailors but also dabbles in brewing his own mixtures. Wine, spirits, rum, or beer, hes a fan of all and hopes to one day bottle his own drink that will be known for years to come.
