Personal history
Arkkon the Mad, Now Arkkon the Vengeful, is a mysterious man, a crazed and psychotic individual who will do whatever it takes, but he was not always this sadistic monster man though. Back before he became Arkkon was a different man with a different name, but he’s forgotten that name now. As a child he grew up as a farm hand on his parent’s farm in the underdark near the city of Iron haven. His father, Theodore, was a Drow who had left the darkness that was his people and his mother, Beatrice, was the daughter of a farmer who owned the farm she inherited. Arkkon grew up hearing stories of magic and adventure from his father, and these stories fueled a desire to partake in his own adventures. The other kids in his village all made fun of him for having these dreams of becoming a wizard. Arkkon knew that because of his lineage and upbringing that he would never have magic of his own, but he thought maybe if he found artifacts powerful enough, he would be able to make up for it. Once Arkkon had become old enough to leave the village he would set off in search of priceless artifacts and magical tomes. One of his grandest adventures was where he met his soon to be longtime friend/love interest Tayra Villgorn. Tayra was a beautiful human woman with long ivory hair and piercing blue eyes. The two were insufferable together and would go on my adventures together, but their first was undoubtedly the grandest. The escapade they went on was a continent wide hunt for a coveted efreeti bottle, which turned out really just to be a plain old oil lamp, but the villains they had to fight and the lands they had to cross to find it was all worth it since they had fun on the journey. After several adventures together they settled down and started a farm of their own. Just when it looked that Arkkon was done with his wild dreams he got wind of a new artifact to hunt for. Arkkon was approached by a crew of other treasure hunters to help them look for the Eye of All, supposedly this was an amulet that would imbue the wearer with immense knowledge of power. These treasure hunters were a group that called themselves the Runners. The Runners were comprised of a half orc named Grodge, a High elf named Elkeire, a gnome named Tinker, and a Dwarf named Grogan. The Elf was the ringleader of the crew and he had heard stories of a half elf treasure hunter with great skills. Elkeire asked Arkkon to join them and Arkkon decided that this was an opportunity he could not miss, one last quest before he began his home life with Tayra. They embarked on their quest and faced a perilous journey, but eventually they found the eye. The Runners however would betray Arkkon and Elkeire would stab Arkkon in the gut several times and then left him for dead after taking the amulet. On death's door Arkkon was hovering over his body looking at him dying, he was then approached by a cloaked figure with red eyes and the figure says to him “sucks to get betrayed like that right, how would you feel if I could offer you a second chance, and an opportunity for you to achieve your dreams? Would you take it? All you would have to do in return is serve me”. Arkkon pissed at the runners for their betrayal and curious as to what this figure meant accepted and said “Anything, just as long as you keep your side of the bargain”. The hooded figure snapped his fingers and suddenly Arkkon was back in his body, only something was different now, he felt more powerful. He realized that the figure had given him magic after he almost killed himself with and eldritch blast. His newfound joy at finally having magic would over the next few years drive him to stark raving madness. He however spent the first three years after his death thirsting for revenge on the runners. Arkkon would eventually kill all of the runners as he had wanted to and even went as far as to mount Elkiere’s skull to a staff to form his arcane focus, but this would not fix his thirst for magical knowledge that had been growing as he had been developing his power, Arkkon was now truly mad. The hooded figure, revealing himself to be the Archdevil Mephistopheles, would return to Arkkon now and then in an ethereal form to give him quests and new things to hunt for and in return Arkkon would give Mephistopheles his undying loyalty and would become one of his servants on the material plane. Over the years, Arkkon’s obsession with magic drove him to hunt down individuals who had magical artifacts and knowledge and kill them then take their magical objects to add to his collection, and this would cause him to travel far and wide in search of these trinkets. Arkkon would hear rumors of a strange individual roaming the underdark with magical abilities unlike any he had ever seen. Arkkon intrigued by the sounds of what might be another magical artifact, he set out back to his home of the underdark to kill this stranger and take his artifact to add to his collection. Arkkon would find this individual not far from his old farm home. It was a man, and it had appeared that this man had replaced him in his once beloved Tayra’s love life, this man was working the fields as Tayra was with Arkkon’s son on the porch. As Arkkon approached the farm he had called home Tayra whistled for her new husband to come. The man appeared of a different world, he looked to be a shaman of some sorts. The man would address Arkkon, “far traveler, what is it you want, we are a peaceful farm family and wish no trouble, if you want the same please leave us in peace”. Arkkon remaining silent points his finger at the farmhouse, a beam of energy emits from his finger and in a split second the house exploded into a violent inferno. Tayra would be consumed by the flames, but Arkkon’s son would be lucky and he escaped the brunt of the explosion, his side and arm would be scorched in the blast leaving his body scarred. Arkkon would address the man saying “ I’ve come for the source of your magic abilities, but it seems I’ll also get to destroy my past in the process, thanks for allowing me to return to destroy my long lost family and take your magical objects at the same time, you’ve allowed me to kill two birds with one stone”. The shaman in fear retorted “dark one you are mistaken, I lost my magics years ago, it seems that my having left realm has cut me off from my source of magic, all I have left is my natural ability to travel the planes”. Now slightly irritated by this inconvenience Arkkon would respond “then what good to me are you?”. The man fearing, he had no option, would flee and attempt to shift planes. Arkkon did grabbed the man’s shoulder saying to him “just where do you think you are going; we hadn’t even gotten to the fun part yet”. Before Arkkon could finish his line of thought they suddenly weren’t at the farm anymore, leaving the stillness of the farm eerily quiet despite the farm house now being set ablaze. Authorities would arrive sometime later and take the ten-year-old son of Arkkon to Iron haven to seek medical attention, and he would survive his injuries, but that’s another story. Returning to our anti-hero, Arkkon would find himself on a beach in a strange land that was beyond his wildest dreams. He turned to the shaman and before the man could even so much as get a spell out Arkkon would blast this man's head into ashes saying “Now look what you have gone and made me do”. Arkkon, dusting off his cloak and turning to his surroundings, says to the now dead body “ Well it appears you have taken us somewhere entirely different now, and while I would normally be in a hurry to head home it appears that this land is ripe with magic, magic that will be mine”. And with that Arkkon would disappear into the jungle to continue his quest for magical power. In this quest, Arkkon’s confidence in his current patron has wavered, he would rebel at any turn he could and eventually he paid the price. Sacrificing himself so his party wouldn’t face the punishment in hell that would await him, he would voluntarily go back to hell to be tortured and eventually become a husk of his former self. As the years in hell crawled by ever so slowly Arkkon had time to reflect on his actions, and he had realized that he had lived the life of a horrible villain and while he knew that that part of his life could not be changed, he could see where he had gone wrong. He spent the majority of his days attempting to redeem his previous actions. He eventually found that he had developed new psionic abilities that had been dormant since his birth, and now with his new found abilities he saw a chance to escape hell and return to the mortal plane, where he could right his wrongs. After escaping hell, he found himself in his old home the Underdark, but it was in a much worst state than when he had left it. Seeing this as an opportunity to change his dark past, he would end up joining a small resistance to a tyrannical overlord named Gregor, fighting alongside a strange cowboy and an angry lizard man. However, this resistance would not last as Gregor’s inquisition would capture Arkkon and his new allies Kraoshk and Cullen. Arkkon would in the end would be the only one to escape the clutches of Gregor’s inquisition. Now alone and in need of new allies, Arkkon searches for new members to join his nearly extinct rebellion and exact revenge on the despicable Gregor.
