Nimue was born in the city of Basca to an elven mother, Daeva, and a human father, who she never met. Her family was poor, barley having enough to put food on the table, but they were kind and loving despite Nimue's human heritage.
 
Around her 10th birthday, certain strange occurrences began to happen. Objects would begin to float around her, and small fires would break out, but no one could figure out how they started. It wasn't long after this had started happening that a mark appeared on the palm of her hand. A deep amber in colour, with a spiral pattern that made it hard to look away from, almost enchanting in its nature. The mark was only the beginning however, as other, more obvious changes began to take place. Cuts began to open across her body, the blood seeping into the skin, dying it a deep blood red. Her eyes changed colour from a vibrant green to a haunting yellow, with vertical slits replacing her previously rounded pupils. Small lumps began to grow from her forehead, which continued to grow until they had become large horns that curled back against the sides of her head. Finally, at the base of her spine, the skin began push its way out until it finally tore, revealing a long tail, ending with a spaded tip. Whatever Nimue had become, it was clear that she was no longer human or an elf and from this point onwards it was abundantly clear that Nimue possessed some form of magic, magic that only got stronger as time passed.
 
By the time she had entered her teenage years her abilities had advanced and she was capable of using her magic to manipulate both her surroundings and those around her. With the help of her abilities, she became quite proficient at manipulating others to get what she wanted, whether that was money or just a favour to be named at a later date. Although this always came with some inherent difficulty due to her unusual appearance, with some finding her curious while others just found her disturbing.
 
When she got older, however, her powers began to take on a slightly more nefarious nature. It started as a whisper in her ear, quiet laughter that seemed to linger on the wind. A push towards things she never thought she could do, to always take things one step further then she should. She would do whatever it took to drown out this noise; drinking, gambling, indulging in every vice she had just to quiet it for however long she could manage. Nothing was ever quite enough though, as the voice would always come back and come back stronger than it had before, seemingly displeased that she had tried to keep it quiet. This all culminated one night, as she was walking back to her house after a night of drinking and debauchery, the whispering almost defining, when she was accosted by a shadowy figure. Dread and fear overcame her, a cold sweat formed on her brow. She wasn't thinking straight, her mind was clouded, and the laughter was defining and, without even realising it, she raised a hand towards him and let loose her power. A torrent of flames and shadow shot up towards the sky, the heat almost unbearable, forcing her to turn away and when she looked back, there was nothing. No body, no pile of ash, no sign that there had ever been anyone even standing there at all, just the ever-present echoing laughter.
 
Ever since this event she convinced herself to finally do what she should have done a long time ago. Find out where her powers came from and whether or not she is a danger to herself and those around her. The voice, however, gets louder with each passing day, as if whatever that shadowed figure was, is getting closer.
