Her parents ran from the underdark and conceived Fran, but she was born with overwhelming magical energy and lost control at a young age killing her only family in the process.
Fran has little recollection of her parents, she only knows for sure that she killed them. Quir and Ezza Tralia were forced to flee their tight-knit Drow community long before they had any idea where they would go or that their illegal love would result in them being torn apart by their own child. Their love was never meant to be as he was poor and powerless, at the bottom of society while she was wealthy, powerful and above all beautiful. When the community found out about their heresy Quir was attacked constantly, other Drow would wait outside of his house just to beat him when he came outside and, when he was nearly killed in one of these attacks they had enough and they fled as far and as hidden as they could. Eventually ending up in Dulan, finding peace for almost 9 years and even having the opportunity to have a child together.

Personal history
Growing up with her mother and father Fran had a mostly normal, if sheltered, childhood. She was rarely let outside and had very little relationship with the other children in the neighborhood. Her father, Quir, worked in the Dulan mines to make a living and support his family while her mother, Ezza, Mostly stayed at home protecting Fran from anything dangerous that she got too curious about. But eventually the bills became more expensive than what little pay the miners would give to a family of Drow outsiders and, reluctantly, her father had to start skipping payments. But inevitably... they caught up with him. When the men in the uniforms came and gave the family their eviction notice Fran couldn't handle it, Her father was hard working and only ever did what he needed to in order to keep Fran and her mother safe it wasn't FAIR... When her mother started to sob and her father turned to break the news to Fran it was too late she awakened to her latent magical abilities and lost control. Powerful energy was suddenly overwhelming her body and on the verge of tearing it's way through her she couldn't keep it in. Suddenly there was an explosion and the sound of screams coming from the Tralia house. everyone in the house was consumed and torn apart by the fire and arcane power... everyone but Fran Scarred and weak she rose to see only ashes and debris where her family and the suited men once were. in the remains lay her mothers golden amulet, now forever stained black by the ash. Before she could even think the girl ran out of the burning house, she was so small and the night was so dark that anyone who witnessed it would tell you there were no survivors of the fire and to Fran there wasn't.
It was days after when Arbald, the pigeon that her parents had always scolded Fran for feeding out of her bedroom window, managed to find her lying in an ally across town covered in an old dumpster blanket. She had managed to escape the house with a pocket knife that her mother had given her for her recent eighth birthday and with her crude knowledge of sowing she had fashioned the old blanket into a lose cloak. Arbald perched above the fence she slept next to until she woke up. Fran had almost given up hope but the pigeon gave her the hope to go on as her only family left to support her. they spent months together scrounging for food and shelter, and of course hiding wherever they could find safety. Fran learned her first controllable spell from Arbald during this time in feather fall. But if her only companion was a pigeon growing up, Fran would have died long ago had it not been for Serina.
Serina, a tall, grayish, Half-orc fighter with a sword at least double the size of Fran and a bow just slightly bigger, Stumbled upon Fran while the small Drow was being robbed of all her newly stolen coin and food by some hungry thieves on the outside of town. By this time Fran had recently turned eleven and had barely survived for two and half years with Arbald. Serina was coming into town to sell a lion that she had just killed off in the wilderness around Dulan, but when she saw Fran being attacked she immediately dropped the creature and easily killed each of the bandits like it was second nature to her. When Fran was released from the grasp of the last thief the half orc cut down, she instinctively readied her knife to defend herself from her presumed next attacker. Then in a flash the knife flew out of her hand and she fell to the ground. Serina reached out her hand to help Fran up and whether because she wanted to protect the helpless little elf or because she respected her fighting spirit she offered to take Fran under her wing and give her protection as much as the half orc could. Fran, with no where better to turn to or go, accepted and the two developed an inseparable bond over the years of surviving together. Fran felt safe and comfortable for the first time since she lost her parents, and Serina got the opportunity to feel like she could trust likely for the first time in her life.
For years the two outcasts of Dulan lived together in the safety of Serina's cabin in the forest, only going into the city for food or other necessities, the half orc would teach Fran everything the drow knows about fighting and staying alive today even helping her gain control of her second spell, chaos bolt. And while Fran was quick to learn how to defend herself and escape danger she never took on learning how to hunt or survive in the wilderness when Serina would try to teach her. Serina just assumed it was because she grew up as a city kid and dropped the matter altogether. Not long after Fran's thirteenth birthday she noticed a sudden change in Serina, who she viewed as her adoptive older sister by this point. The change was obvious at first something just seemed off and, over the next few months it became more and more apparent that Serina was becoming slightly more savage and far less calm eventually leading to her discarding the bow that she had lived by for so long. The two never spoke of the change; Fran being afraid that the truth would be far worse than ignorance and Serina either didn't notice or was too scared of what Fran would think of her.
One night Fran decided to follow behind Serina on one of her weekly hunts that the half orc always insisted she go alone on. Neither knew that this was the last night that they would spend together. As Fran followed the footprints along the dark forest floor lit only by the full moon's light she began to notice drops of some dark liquid next to the trail only a half mile away from her only home and safe haven and, while scarce at first and relatively unnoticeable, eventually it progressively concentrated more and more until becoming a constant pooling path of what Fran could now clearly tell was blood. the tracks led into a clearing where the path ended at the feet of a creature that made Fran freeze where she stood. The full moon bathed the clearing in bright pale light and there was no doubt what Fran had witnessed standing behind the treeline. A huge and grizzled Gray wolf stood over the corpse of some human dressed in typical merchants clothes completely covered in blood. The beast was tearing apart the merchants arm when Fran began turning to run but as the drow took her first step back she found herself wishing she had listened to Serina's lessons about navigating the woods as she fell over a branch snapping it and alerting the wolf. The monster saw Fran who was sitting completely still as if turned to stone, the Wolf took one step toward her and began shifting into the familiar half orc that Fran had relied on for so long. She was only able to let out one word before everything happened. "Fran". But Fran let out a terrified scream and lost control of her power once again then, suddenly, Serina's right arm was frozen solid followed by a loud crash of thunder and the Half orc's limb was completely destroyed. Fran ran as far as she could being overwhelmed by emotions and feeling betrayed by the one person she thought she could trust she ran through the woods until she reached Dulan and collapsed outside. When Fran woke in the dirt the next morning, Serina was nowhere to be seen and the small drow girl never went back to look for her assuming she died from her magic just like her parents had. Then, left only with Arbald, Fran went back into Dulan; the closest place she had to a home.
Fran spent the next year sleeping in alleys and gutters and pick pocketing anybody in the city she could just to survive off cheap produce and inns. She was able to get into far more fights then before she met Serina since now she had some control of herself and could win against the thieves and scum of the city for whatever stolen goods they might be carrying. During this time she had mastered her third controllable spell: invisibility which helped her steal food and escape when she got in over her head occasionally but, getting caught seemed to have more dire consequences now that she was older. Fran was nearly killed once after stealing enough gold for a week at a relatively high quality inn, but came out of the confrontation with only a scar on her cheek and having blasted the man through a nearby wall. Then she likely gained some sort of reputation because she received an invitation from a group in Dulan known as The Peddle seeing the opportunity to make an actual living for the first time in her life she cautiously accepted.
