Raised by his grandfather, he is a fisherman and has a rather pragmatic and down to earth personality, though not without some superstitions. He's accustomed to the work of fishermen and so has some discipline. Follows Procan
Ferkhan was raised by his grandfather in a small fishing village. They mostly kept to themselves, and his grandfather taught him in the ways of sailing and fishing, including spear hunting. They've had some contact with other sea tribes and villages, and they know to worship the gods of the sea, taking only what they need and giving back. He's always felt that he was destined for more, and didn't quite fit in with the other village people, which gave him the nickname wild-eyed as he had dreams, which most couldn't afford to have. His life was one of routine and work, waking up early to catch fish, prepare and salting fish, taking care of the boats and ships, maintaining the traps and nets, etc. And he'd often rail against his grandfather and find ways to disappear to explore further. However, his grandfather was strict and always tried to shut down his wanderlust. His grandfather fell sick one day, and before grandpa passed began to train Ferkhan in some combat skills, knowing that Ferkhan was stricken with wanderlust and would leave the village soon. After dealing with the grief of losing his guardian and friend, Ferkhan found a journal and letter from his grandfather, an account and confession of sorts that he had stolen Ferkhan away from his father, knowing that his father was thirsty for power and would not have been a good rolemodel for Ferkhan. That his father had strayed from the path. But with the journal, the hope that his father was alive was rekindled, and Ferkhan set out to explore the world, ply his skills, find a place where he belongs and find out about his heritage.
As a sailor native to town, you know plenty of people down by the docks. You have friends in the Oweland family who can get you access to Eda, a prominent local leader, as needed. You also have friends among the sailing crews and know the best and worst of the businesses that cater to them. - Grandfather was very well respected within the town of Saltmarsh, and had good connections with others.
Ferkhan also acts as a tourguide somewhat for those in Saltmarsh.
Has a loose belief and faith in Procan, chaotic neutral deity of the sea and weather. Procan's domain is the sea, and whatever the oceans touch, he bears witness to. He doesn't adhere to strict rituals, but will give and make offerings where he can, along with bringing a piece of the sea with him so Procan can be with him on his journeys and on land.
I think later on when Ferkhan encounters a fathomless patron... it won't be at odds(or adversarial) with Procan. Procan's domain is the sea, and he watches over all, he has both destructive forces within the sea and also healing forces.

Appearance
Physical Description
Functionally fit. From being on the sea and doing daily work of lifting nets, spearing fish, carrying large hauls of fish, setting anchors, ropes, etc, he has a strong body but isn't like a bodybuillder. He carries his weight well, as they often have high fat diets, and knows that Procan can be fickle, so he'll never leave any leftovers.
Identifying Characteristics
A bit younger than the above photo, and more lightly armored. Mixture of both practical/functional and superstition. Wears a lot of different trinkets on him(such as earrings, and shell necklaces, but the earrings have wax on them so they can serve as ear plugs for diving), has an eyepatch for sole purpose of adjusting to light. Carries a pouch of salt on him at all times. Wears chain netting, multiple ropes and hooks strapped on him, wields a trident with a chain attached to it, has a wooden shield(fish drying plate + surfboard). Tattooed with good luck charms.
