Personal history
Princess Sigrid Fireforged of the Royal Clan Kedmar'âzah, daughter of King Tybek Stormbreaker and heir to the Seven Scrolls of Nightfire, hails from the The Stone Isles. Currently, she is traveling under her family's banner on her grand tour, learning of other cultures and competing in tournaments. She is affectionately called Violet by her closest friends, including her brother, crown prince Kjell Ironheart.
Years ago, she left the palace behind following a terrible argument with her father. Venturing out on her own, she joined the Snow Leopards barbarian tribe, undergoing an accelerated harrowing to prove herself worthy of the tribe's acceptance. She learned to fight, and earned the nickname "swift-axe" due to her quick temper.
As heir to the Seven Scrolls, Sigrid was cursed to die in childhood by enemies of that lineage. The curse was such that no resurrection magic could save her from this death -- and it did come to pass as the curse demanded. However, Sigrid was returned to life by the actions of a very unusual fey named Arctoia. Sigrid and Arctoia are now mystically linked, so the life of one depends on the life of the other.
After a terrible encounter with a pool of liquid evil known as Havoc Oil, Sigrid unveiled a corruption in the tribe's leaders, and saved the life of the tribe's shaman. She has earned the loyalty of the Snow Leopards, and won favor with their archfey patron, the Prince of Cats. However, in the course of the battle, Sigrid was infected by the Oil, her soul becoming corrupted. She underwent a hellish ritual with the help of the Lothianite curate Nigella, which almost killed Sigrid several times -- but in the end, she prevailed, and was cleansed. In the course of that, Sigrid discovered that she was haunted by the spirit of her old tribal elder, Nekhii. She too is corrupted by the oil, even in death, and her spirit is consumed with the need for revenge. Although Sigrid knows of a druidic ritual to cleanse Nekhii, the it comes with the risk of the soul's destruction, so Sigrid has chosen to allow the ghost to follow her until her vengeance can be fulfilled.
Pursuing prophetic dreams with several companions, Sigrid learned that she was destined to become a champion of the Elder Gods. As she came to know these gods and their followers, she felt a kinship she had never experienced with the dwarven pantheon. She devoted herself to the faith, and joined a holy order called the Knights of the Golden Cross. As she pursued this path, the gods saw her deeds and her determination, and rewarded her with the blessings and powers of a paladin.
Education
Sigrid was trained by royal tutors, and is well educated in history and comportment -- when she chooses to use it. She was also schooled in Snow Leopard fighting techniques by their Elder of Weapons, Aurn.
Employment
Sigrid is an experimental smith, tinkering with curious remnants of forgotten technology -- and sometimes creating her own.
Accomplishments & Achievements
She was granted full membership in the Snow Leopards for successfully completing her rite of passage. She was granted a special favor from the tribe's archfey patron in thanks for her work in ridding the tribe of corruption.
She was decorated with a medal by the Commissar of Ptolus for assisting in clearing out a clutch of demons lairing beneath the city.
She was knighted in Edain for her participation in the Battle of Hob Mountain -- albeit under an assumed name.
She took first place in the second tier at the 722 Grand Tournament in Trolone.
Mental Trauma
Her first relationship (with Ingemar Thunderfist) progressed as far as engagement before ending badly. This has affected virtually all of her romantic connections since, and her view toward romance in general.
As Violet, she and the Shadow Sisters were captured by the green dragon Konari'sonear. She stole a number of their cherished possessions, and compelled them to work for months before they finally escaped. Sigrid took this as a personal failure, and the knowledge that many of the other prisoners did not escape still haunts her.
During the Battle of the Dead Marsh , Sigrid was captured by the enemy during a reconnaissance mission, and was tormented for 2 days, witnessing the deaths of several other prisoners. She did not give up her forces' position or plans, and was subsequently recovered by the Shadow Sisters, although she briefly died during that effort. While making these choices pained Sigrid, she knows she wouldn't make any other choice today.
