Mentality

Personal history

Born to a noble family, Naia learned early that much was expected of her. Her clan, the Quillix, is an old one, ennobled for a millennium and noted for their reflective silver scales. Beings of the arctic, they blend into their surroundings as natural defense though they have few enemies. Always and forever, the Quillix are aligned for Good in the cosmic wars, and it is said that the merest whisper of shame will tarnish their silver shine.
 
The Quillix have a long and storied history of paladins, clerics and warriors – soldiers for Good who made a name for themselves and their clan, and polished the name so that it represented something solid and shone with a brilliant glory. As a child, Naia heard these stories of her famous forebears and was filled with pride. Yet there was much about the clan that was not just old and venerated, but stale. And the weight of expectation – to uphold what had always been upheld – was an immense burden because it didn’t feel like it fit on her shoulders.
 
One day when Naia was 12, she spotted an arctic wolf outside the clan compound. Watching it intently, she was so focused on the wolf that she could feel its fur, smell its prey and hear the snow crunch between the pads of its paws. And then - for just a moment - she leaned into its skin and saw the world through its eyes, and felt completely at home.
 
In the Quillix, there are no druids. Attunement to the environment is part of being dragonborn, but there is nothing to describe what Naia experienced, and because of that it was unacceptable. She knew to tell anyone could have terrible consequences, so she spoke of it to no one for years. But eventually the burden of her secret became too much. And as the ritual of her adulthood approached, she became more afraid of what would be revealed and tarnish the scales of her clan.
 
She finally told her tutor, who was as shocked and appalled as she expected. But after the shock faded, her tutor told her of a different kind of clan, one that was not based on race or family but on individual talent. And that he had heard of a place in warmer lands where meeting other clans like this was possible. And so it came to pass that shortly before her 15th nameday, Naia picked up the satchels she had prepared and rode south to protect her clan and her name and her sanity.

Education

Naia's formal education is from her tutor to age 15, and her druid mentors and teachers. She was sent to live with the Dwarves for about 5 years during her early druid internship.

Employment

Naia is currently employed by the Commission in the Redshift Zone.

Mental Trauma

Although Neutral Good aligned, Naia is inordinately concerned with negative effects to her family name and family reputation.Given a choice between Lawful Good re family concerns and Neutral Good in all other situations, it is currently unknown how Naia would respond to a challenge with this flaw in her character.

With a noble pedigree and a good education to start, Naia's intellectual capacity has been sharpened during her time working in the Redshift Zone. She has developed a great curiosity and interest in all things scientific.

Neutral to Lawful Good aligned, Naia will always champion causes that could generate harmony and peace. But she is no stranger to combat and will jump into fights to save her friends and cohort.
 
However, she will promote options to negotiate for peace whenever possible. And she will look for ways to protect the young, the elderly and non-combatants.
