After an attack on their mother left them wounded shortly after their birth, Theste and her younger sister managed to survive in the jungles of Nurvatcha. Theste began communing with nature early in her life to help assist her sister's healing process along the way. She learned from nature all that she needed to know about the most useful herbs...while making animal friends along the way. Since her and her sister grew up in the wild, they have been slightly shunned for living their lives in a different way than normal Anadi but they both still greet people in town warmly nonetheless.
