Harvard E. Lee was born in 2200 aboard Control Station Enclave, a secluded military installation that housed the remnants of the Enclave, an authoritarian faction bent on restoring the old American government in the post-apocalyptic world. The significance of his birth cannot be overstated, as Harvard is a direct descendant of two of the most iconic figures in American history: General Robert E. Lee, the famed Confederate commander, and George Washington, the nation’s first president. This prestigious bloodline, stretching back to the Revolutionary War and the Civil War, shaped his identity from a young age.

 

Growing up on Control Station Enclave, Harvard was steeped in the values of military tradition and honor, with an unyielding sense of duty to the United States, a country that ceased to exist long before he was born. His family legacy—entrenched in the ideals of both the Confederacy and the Revolutionary War—loomed large, with his ancestors’ military service and sacrifices serving as both an inspiration and a burden. These ties to his lineage gave him a deep, often unshakable belief in the concept of purity—specifically, the need to restore the United States to what he believed was its former glory, untouched by the mutations and corruption that had overtaken the wasteland.

His tactical brilliance and cunning ambition earned him the rank of General and the position of Commander of Enclave West Command.
 
Purism and Ideological Beliefs
 
At the core of Harvard E. Lee's beliefs is his steadfast commitment to purism, an ideology that dictates the supremacy of the "pure" descendants of pre-war America. He believes that the destruction of the old world was a result of genetic and cultural corruption, and that it is the Enclave’s divine purpose to restore America to its former glory—free from the mutations and imperfections brought about by nuclear fallout.

His beliefs have driven numerous purging campaigns against "undesirable" groups, including super mutants, ghouls, and anyone deemed genetically inferior.
