Personal history
Ethran has always been a boy more accustomed to his own devices rather than anything else. Among his family of noble blood he’s always been a little bit (or a lot bit) out of place, save for his older sister. Always stumbling, over words or over his own feet, and hiding at all the dinners and soirees his parents forced him to attend, of course. For as long as he can remember, Ethran has simply felt out of place. And it has been an annoyingly large part of his life.
The only things he enjoys are ones that he practices for his own self satisfaction, and not for any appearance or tradition or to meet some sort of standard. When he found a box in the attic of his great great grandfather’s old war memorabilia, and a sleek, dusty but well loved sword, Ethran fell in love. And for the first time, past the spells and the colors of magic that seemed so strangely foreign to Ethran, he could see dance like movement in every battle, and became desperate to hold a sword in his hands like the paladin his great great grandfather had been. The only time there is any balance and fluidity in Ethran’s step is when he is fighting, and he practiced this art diligently in every moment of his spare time. Aside from that, he was cooking when the cooks finally turned their backs on the kitchen. He found solace in little passions, and his parents at that point had decided to turn a blind eye for the most part. Hopefully, he’d figure it out eventually. If not, they had Evylin to carry the noble name onward.
Though excited to attend Lysavet (not that there was an option not too), he often sits at the back of his classes, and magic, though supposed to be inherent, still stutters and sputters when Ethran’s nerves get the best of him. He finds himself in advanced sword fighting classes, hopefully on his way to becoming a paladin, but still struggling with a shyness that trumps his ability to truly shine at Lsavet.
Though his head is kept down often, he is aware of his goals and striving to achieve them, however many baby steps it takes.
Personality
Motivation
- Become a paladin. Or, not exactly that, but do something greater-good related. Fight bad guys.
- Become more confident. Overcome more fears, all of them if possible.
- Especially the one that involves him being afraid to showcase his own passions and talents.
- Get a better handle on spellcasting and actually show some proficiency in his specialization of magic. Why does it always feel so hard and out of reach?
