The story before the campaign

Carson was born in a humble background to Griff and Helen Brightwood on a farm in Elturguard. The 5th child and 4th boy born to the family, he knew his future would not lie on the farm. His parents were good people that instilled a strong sense or right and wrong and a civic spirit to help those in need.
 
When Carson became a man he opted to enlist in the army to fight evil doers and help the needy. Strong and clever he rose through the ranks to Captain, but the army was not all he hoped. Carson felt it was his duty to be fair and help the oppressed but on too many occasions he saw his superiors be the oppressor and face no consequences. He knew to tackle this would be futile at best and could be much worse. Carson opted to leave the army and find another way to help the world.
 
In his studies he found Tyr, the god of justice. He visited a temple Dragonspear Castle and pledged his sword to Tyr. Carson vowed to fight for the greater good and help the needy. His studies complete, he was sent out into the world. His first stop, the city of Waterdeep, a city with the Zhentarim and Xanathar's guild at war.
