Ritva was born in Mantle, though she was soon given away to Atlas by her parents. Her semblance was present from her very birth on, and it's effects became apparent very soon, after her parents and people around her became very depressed and started acting strangely and in paranoid manners. The emotional strain it had on her surroundings and the doctor's inability to supress the effects lead to her parents giving her away to Atlas's military and it's research facilities. There she grew up in isolation, raised by scientists and soldiers visiting her cold cell only to bring food, ask questions or bring her to her next experiments.
For physical fitness she recieved private/remote combat training. (Training through a window or via audio during supervised solo missions in the wild fighting against actual Grimm. After years of this lifestyle her control over her semblance was deemed good enough to allow her to attend an academy. It wasn't very surprising that she chose a foreign academy.
Due to her origins in and around atlas,
Her semblance's tendency to negatively affect the people in her surroundings, has led to her spending much of her live in solitude and exile. Having been numbed by this upbringing she appears cold and harsh/emotionless to most observers and finds it hard to make friends and socialize. However, she wishes for little more than someone to talk to without having them going on a rampage or slumping into a lump of hopelessness.
This is also one of the reasons her weapon of choice is the bow. It allows her to distance herself from others, so that her semblance doesn't come to use. She doesn't like to use her semblance, even on enemies.
Fimbulvetr & Hoverskis
Ritva's weapon of choice is her Bow Fimbulvetr. It is very simple and old fashiones in shape but features intricate carvings and designs on it. The tips of each bow limb, as well as at the end of the grip (as well as the grip itself) are made of Ice Dust Crystals. The limbs themselves are white in appearance, while the crystals are a light blue, and the carvings vary from darker blue to silver.
She also possesses a pair of skis which employ hover technology, allowing her to surf above the ground simillarly to roller skates. The skis feature a series of small balls of Gravity Dust Crystals as well as multiple lines infused with Wind Dust. The combination of these two Dust types allow the skis to hover as well as propell in various directions. They also allow the user to activate the Dust in the skis to allow for either a short sprint boost, a gravity jump, or both.

Solitude (of Winter):
Exuding freezing waves of cold air when not deactivated (Requires Aura to supress) that induce hopelessness and desperation. When exposed too long they can become so desperate that they may act like a cornered animal and start lashing out against anyone in their vicinity, unable to distinguish between friend and foe, or can become so overwhelmed by hopelessness that they just give up. (TL;DR people near her get paranoid and depressed.)
Momentum in pointing direction (Emulating wind). OR Cooling them down and exhausting them.
When combined with ice dust causes rime and frost to gather on the affected person and objects in line. Making it harder to move.
