Personal history
The God-Stealer was born in an age long past, just before the downfall of the God-Kings. Although his original appearance and name have long since been erased from the historical gestalt of mortalkind, his deeds have lived on in trace hints. It was said that once, he was a servant of the God-Kings, doing their bidding as their spy and personal thief, taking great treasures in their name and for their use. He ultimately betrayed them, however, for the sake of the heroes that rose up to overthrow the God-Kings, on the condition he would be compensated. After the heroes claimed their victory and ascended to godhood, the God-Stealer came to collect and was denied his due; in response, he stole their own artifacts and indeed even his very name from the Tome of Mortality, securing eternal life for himself and his two companions. Enraged, the God of Secrets and Death struck him with a curse—no one would ever remember his name nor his face and until his stolen name was returned to the book, he could not die. Instead, he would be reincarnated the instant his life ended in a new body of some other race. He would have no legacy—or so they thought. The God-Stealer, however, had different plans and through his many lives sought out lovers to sire children with, if you believe the stories. And so now he has a legacy and continues his wanderings and his trickery even to this day—who knows when he may strike again?
