Hawthorne wears a fitted suit of studded leather armor that he crafted himself under his father's tutelage. As per MacEdenburrough tradition, Hawthorne's mother made and gifted him a cloak, which she made purple to reflect his fascination with magic. On Thorn's right arm he has fastened his wrist-rocket, and on his left he has jury-rigged a bracer to provide him with easy access to his tools.

Personal history

Hawthorne was raised by the MacEdenburrough Clan of Gnomes in the Herbenshire. Growing up with dozens of brothers and sisters, Hawthorne quickly realized he was different than his siblings (quicker, more easily agitated, a distaste for salads, green skin, etc.), but he never let that bring him down. Instead, he was motivated to show that he was just as good if not better than them. He worked hard with his parents learning their trades, read every book the MacEdenburroughs owned, and built devices to mimic the cantrips his siblings were able to cast innately.
When Hawthorne turned eighteen, his parents told him that he was not their actual son, and that he was found outside of Helbaurg's walls as a baby. In an emotional tantrum, Hawthorne ran away from home to look for answers about where he came from and who his real family is. Upon leaving the Herbenshire, he went straight to The Sanctuary of Knowledge, where he hoped he could find some information and become a powerful wizard. He signed up for a new class taught by Professor Planeseeker, but was rejected after failing several aptitude and placement tests (or so he was told).
