Cayden is the only child of Helgi Ironside, daughter of Sir Cassius and Sarah Ironside, born in 3967 on the 2nd of Calistril, otherwise known as Merrymead. Because of the date and his family's fondness of the drunken hero, Cayden earned his name. Cayden never knew his father and all his mother ever told him or his family, was that Cayden was the best thing that happened form the worst night.
 
When Cayden was 14, his mother died from falling debris that fell off a ship pulling into Docean, Gaz'roc. Cayden went to live with his grandparents after that. That same year, he say a local troupe in Docean performing and convinced them to let him hang around.
