Personal history
Mezzo Coyopr Duetar, 25, better known as Cooper. His origins come from a small satellite village deep within The Fauo wilderness, that had only been brought under the influence of one Lady Francisca Siffress within twenty years. The small community having taxes levied against them from a world beyond their own. With the occupation, many of the names of the dialect of the area were legally changed to make easier for the tax collector to pronounce, as well as the dropping of the honorary titles, denoting their place in the family. Between them, the Deutar family still applies the honorifics to each other and others of their village.
He is the son of an Entertainer, Mother Eloxochiti Duetar, known in Common as Chiti Duetar and Father Huemarc Duetar, known mostly as his alias, Marc Poular, a criminal who seems to be quite successful at his trade. Due to both of the professions of his parents, Cooper was raised, comfortably, along with his two older sisters and younger brother by his grandparents. Most of his life was under their rule, and it shows by all of the Duetar children referring to Wise Xichtunal Duetar and Wise Milintica Duetar fondly as Gami Tunal and Papi Tica, even well into their adult years.
Cooper’s siblings are below, he has a friendly relationship with all of them, even if they have not seen him since Vloed last rode through the sky. And when he can, he will send some of the money he earns to Meztli and Uetzcayotl.
- Eldest Tlalli Duetar, known mostly by her fellow sailors as Alli Duetar. She is Neutral, alive, and quite successful.
- Elder Meztli Duetar, known in the larger world as Tilly Duetar, an up and coming politician trying to abolish the idea of Nobel Houses in Lady Siffress’ domain. Her radicalist ideas have labelled her as Lawful Evil, and in turn, not been gaining traction in a feudal society, but she uses The Grand City of Tunne’s Merchant Committee as a shining beacon of what could be. She is alive, but struggling while trying to bring about change while wading through the legal system.
- Vernal Uetzcayotl Duetar, known fondly as Ezekiel Duetar by his fellow labourers in the former realm of Lady Siffress, much to the fact that the less refined language that is known as Common, cannot seem to pronounce his name properly. The youngest of the Duetar, and regularly taking flak for being a supporter of Elder Meztli’s campaign, has had a rough time making it for himself in the city. But he makes ends meet, barely. And is Neutral in the affair, if he tries to help his sister.
In the past, Wise Milinitica had made a pact with the same Patron as Cooper, promising his and his son’s service to save the life of the woman he loved, Wise Xichtunal from a disease that was afflicting the area. The patron accepted, but when Father Huemarc refused to abide to the strict rules of the Patron, opting to instead use his skills to carve a name for himself as a proprietor of rare and illegal goods, Mezzo Cooper ended up being taken to a holy site to the avatar, Moosh while The Tear filled the sky, the young man agreed to helping Moosh, quoted as saying “My heart was as light as a feather, I felt myself pulled up to Vload to help Gami and Papi.”
Previously, when Vloed had ruled the sky, when he was seven, he had been working in an opium den, and was unaware that the gravitational changes.
He had occurred some significant rapport with some of his “Uncles” that had told him about his father’s debts and was working to pay it off. Left to his own devices, Cooper’s gnack of manipulating others had come to the forefront while running product or entertaining his “Uncles” with stories that his Papi had told him about his Gami. He found that he enjoyed telling these stories, and did not mind the company of people from around Issanara, the adrenaline of being surrounded by people who would as soon kill him as pay him, he enjoyed how aware he was, soon enough, as the debts continued building, he figured out the best way to assist Father would be to shave coins, and give the “Uncles” their own money back. After carefully planning his first scheme, he was hooked to the chance of failure.
The Pact was fulfilled as Cooper agreed to serve on the Holy Site of Moosh, Avatar of Essence, under The Tear he swore he would abstain from alcohol and other intoxicants. He was told that Moosh was a strict disciplinarian, but as long as he did what ordered, Moosh would show him the smallest measure of respect. and Wise Xinchtunal recovered from her sickness to continue raising the children. Unfortunately, Mezzo Cooper, after being used to trying to play with more powerful minds, had been invited by Eldest Tlalli to send her off on her first ship deployment. They drank and were merry, but alas, the sun rose the next day to show the same disease that had afflicted Wise Xinchtunal, Estrangulamiento tuunich (strangling stone) had taken residence upon his skin. The fevers came and in his dreams, The Patron stood above him, knowing what he had done, knowing the oath he had broken. He begged and cried to have one more shot, finally realizing the gravity of the situation and what swearing fealty to Moosh was not something he could game.
After what seemed like an eternity, The Patron released Mezzo Coyopr with the mark of the disease on him forever more. At one transgression, it would run rampant upon his soul, but as long as he served, it would not harm him.
His brother, then fourteen, Vernal Uetzcayotl had gotten mixed up with the Opium Den much like Cooper himself had, with more “Uncles” coming to town to talk to the Deutar boys about more and more debts. He was able to talk to them, and convinced the “Uncles” to leave his family alone, and he would work with them. During this time, he learned to pay attention to the small things and much like his shaving scheme previously, he decided to patiently forge some documents to imply Lady Francisca Siffress had some dubious ties to other kingdoms, using Papi’s stories as a bounceboard. He made sure the documents got into the wrong hands, and then gave the contract to the “Uncles” he had previously entertained with the very same stories.
After a few years, the Siffress family quietly left the countryside, and another House took over. Not actually interested in the small fish of his village, he did not bother to learn their name. Cooper took contracts to go into more populated areas to see if he could ensure his family would be safe from the “Uncles” that seemed to get more and more frequent, he left a trail, under one of the more lesser known aliases of Father Huemarc Duetar, Doran Vettina.
The name, to the village, was more a warning to anyone who would know his father. Due to the fact that Doran Vettina was the name of a horrible, bloodthirsty hangman that Papi had claimed rounded up entire towns that were potentially harbouring fugitives and executed half of them before starting to question where the actual criminals were hiding. A blight on the Underworld of civilization. A man who would torture thousands of people to find his mark.
In his years of travel, Cooper commissioned a signet ring for the character of Doran Vettina, forged documents to suggest he was a lord of a castle following up on leads. He then would use that wax seal to mark any letters he would send to his family. So any of the Uncles that would be harassing his kin would see the Vettina Heron. Hopefully making the connection that The Hangman was asking around, and set the Duetar family under his protection.
Cooper’s detest for “nobility” stems from the fact that his “Uncles” never showed up before his village had somehow been smothered in the Siffress influence. Since the time he assisted in removing them, his home has been trading hands, all of the Houses all doing the same thing, taxing them more than the last.
The Mazzo Duetar has heard rumors of Lady Francesca Siffress’ kin investigating the origin of the damning documents that exiled them from their estate. If it gets out that he was the one that “released” the information, he is as sure as The Patron’s Descriptor that his family would be at the very least imprisoned, most of them killed. He regularly writes letters to Papi, Gami, and Mother to get information on the village, keeping a wary eye on all the goings on of his home. His communication with his sisters and brother is less investigative, but he does tend to ask at least Eldest Tlalli of news any time she gets to port. Also whenever he can, he will attempt to communicate with Father Huemarc so they might work together to keep their family safe.
Coyopr has always had a guilty pleasure of helping the egotistical return to the atmosphere. He has never passed on a chance to deflate someone’s ego.
A known adversary of the Deutar boy has plagued him for the last few years. A captain by the name of Anada Shobha, a human pirate. When he had found out that she had raided Alli’s ship, Coyopr worked to make contracts that Anada would find tempting and spread the word to competing captains. When Anada’s ship, The Jonata, took port and she had disembarked, Coyopr stepped from the shadows and invited her to dinner. She obliged, not knowing that her ship was about to be taken over by another crew.
He treated her to a moderate dinner, and then at the end of the night, he walked her back to the port. When they got there, her boat was gone, and her crew was murdered and on display on the dock. As they stood on the dock, and she looked back in confusion, he was grinning and bowed to her. He warned her to be more careful on the ships she raided in the future and stood over her as the [PARALYZING PLANT] he had placed in her drinks took effect, he then placed a paper boat in her hand, leaving her while saluting her and saying “Good night, Captain!”
She was not impressed.
A year later, while Coyopr was pulling a job in [A CITYSTATE ON THE WATER] Mrs. Shobha had caught up to him. She had began working on another crew, recognized his accent, and undermined his contract.
