Captain Gaius Varronius is a hard-nosed and sharp-jawed individual with high cheekbones and a hard brow that combine to make his face appear like a razor-edged ice sculpture. His nearly-ever-present smirk breaks that rigidness nowadays.

House Varronius was dissolved by the Barony. In defiance of the Baron's edict that the colors of House Varronius are banned, it's all Gaius wears.

Specialized Equipment

Most of the gear Gaius uses was made by the Barony of Letnev, the exception is his coat which was a gift from a fellow agent of the Keleres.

Personal history

Gaius' story is simple, but hard for him to tell. It all began when Commander Gaius Varronius was assigned to protect a Sol Federation Ambassador. Gaius did his job and thwarted an assassination attempt - by the Cimm Fenn - aboard the ship he served on against the Federation Ambassador he was assigned to protect. The naval leadership praised his work to the ambassador's face, but blackmarked him quietly. The Barony of Letnev wanted him disappeared for that, and they nearly had their way a few weeks later when he was set up as a fall guy for another attempt on the Ambassador. Gaius' trial was barely interrupted by the Messenger from the Council announcing his military transfer - Several council members personally requested his transfer, the Baron could only execute Gaius if he wanted all eyes on him. My, how the Baron was livid, his fury shown like a beacon and breached all levels of decorum that day - But Gaius lived.

Gaius was duly transferred to the Keleres - and warned never to visit Letnev space again. While he escaped Arc Prime his family, a young wife and two small children, his parents, one sibling and several surviving cousins are left to fend for themselves against any possible retaliation the Baron or Cimm Fenn levy against them. Commander Gaius became Agent Gaius of the Keleres. His family became prisoners.

Now Gaius is trying to get them out and secure a safe space for them. Resourceful as he is, this is no easy task.

While Captain Gaius Varronius' transfer to the Keleres made him untouchable, and was initially pushed by the Federation of Sol, though the Captain owes them no loyalty now. Their push to make him Keleres was to ensure they had allies, but Captain Gaius Varronius was merely doing the right thing...not acting in support of the Federation.

And while he had no idea that the Assassin was part of Cimm Fenn and dispatched on the Baron's orders Now they both want him dead but can't do anything overtly because of his connection to the Council and how much suspicion his death would raise.

Lately he has been sought out by elements of the New Letnev Union and simultaneous but seemingly coincidentally by ambassadors of the Mentak Coalition.
