Appearance

Physical Description

Standing at a solid five foot even and weighing just under one hundred pounds, many would take one look at Miss. Grace and dismiss her as a child, a weak little girl. She is very lean, at some angles appearing stick-thin, however Miss. Grace is not without muscles entirely. Her arms, legs, and abdomen are toned with slight definition, due to years of training her speed and agility to make up for the lack of physical strength.

Body Features

The most glaringly obvious feature about Miss. Grace is her ghost-white skin. Born a Deviant, her genes were mutated beyond typical albinism until pigmentation was nonexistent. Instead of turning pink or red from physical exertion or certain emotions, a spread of light-grey will run across heated or flushed areas. Only burns or lacerations will have bright color, especially as her blood is still red. Besides that, the only color change she can produce is from cold, such as blue or purple fingertips or other extremities. There are no birthmarks of note other than a few freckles here and there.

Facial Features

Everything about Miss. Grace can be described as sharp and angled; her nose, her cheekbones, even her jawline. Her eyes are wide, doe-like, with stark-white irises. These features only add to her capability of being underestimated, as she has been known to use these "innocent" looks to her advantage. There is also be a smattering of grey freckles across her nose, and a small birthmark under her left eye. In darkness, Miss. Grace's eyes can sometimes appear to "glow", however this is just them managing to capture and reflect any bit of light possible.

Identifying Characteristics

Other than her obvious Deviancy, Miss. Grace upon her release from Haven Facility spent much of her first few monthly allowances to "design" her own physical identity. While hair dyes seemed not to "stick", likely due to her genetic mutation, she cut it in a purposely uneven style; cropped short in the back, with loose bangs that can be manipulated in many ways, and two very long strands of hair hanging from either side of her face.

Miss. Grace also paid for multiple piercings and tattoos to cover her body. We believe this is her developing an identity that does not classify her as "greyscale".

Unlike hair dyes, it appears that the colored ink used for tattoos does not fade. This could likely be due to the slight damage done to the skin by the tattoo gun. We do know that the parlor she went to specialize in tattooing Deviants, so perhaps there is some special formula and/or technique they use. However, we cannot know for sure without further investigation.

Physical quirks

Miss. Grace's Deviancy, we believe, resulted from the mutation of her cells in utero that would eventually become her respiratory system. Instead of a respiratory system fit for a human, hers had shaped into one matching avian beings. We believe this to be the "source" of all of her supernatural abilities, as they all stem from her mere breathing.

Apparel & Accessories

Miss. Grace typically wears dark clothing, with "style" varying often between "Biker" - faux leather, "Casual" - self explanatory, "Gothic" - self explanatory, "Grunge" - torn and roughed up, and "Minimalist" - self explanatory.

She often has large, oversized coats or jackets or hoodies either on her or carried with her in some way; it is possible they are oversized due to having difficulty finding clothing that fits her small stature. Much of her apparel is plain, with little patterns and no graphic designs, paired with jeans or sweatpants most often.

Besides clothing, Miss. Grace does wear much jewelry. Almost all of her piercings are always there, however she does not wear much large or "dangly" pieces - likely for safety, or we hope so at the least. She can also often be seen with choker-style necklaces, varying from simple strings to lace to other intricate "styles".

Mentality

Personal history

Penelope's mother abandoned her husband upon discovering the deformities their daughter had in a routine ultrasound. She knew that his anti-deviant mantra would not permit their child be born, and felt she had no other choice if she wanted to keep her baby girl. Anabel left Manhattan, New York, and returned to her hometown in South Padre Island, Texas. There, surrounded by her family, she gave birth to a two-month premature Penelope, who was as white as snow from her hair to her toes. Wishing to limit her husband's ability to track them down, Anabel gave her daughter her maiden name: Grace.

Unfortunately, the birth of a Deviant with anatomical differences had adverse effects on Anabel's health. Her heart was weakened, and she remained mostly on bed rest with her family taking care of both her and newborn Penelope. It was around age two where they realized her deviancy did not pause at appearance; Penny also had abilities. Abilities that were hopelessly, wildly out of control, and extremely dangerous if not deadly. Since then, she had been partially shunned by the family, forced to always wear masks and not allowed to spend much time with any of them, including her mother. Somewhere at age five, Penny once snuck into her mother's room in the middle of the night. She had had a nightmare, she was scared and lonely; none of the other family members paid heed to her cries, this was something she learned the hard way the past few years. All she wanted was a hug from the woman who birthed her, but was rarely allowed to see. However, the little toddler forgot to wear her (hated) facemask... And her mother passed away due to accidental suffocation.
