Berta Amberrock is a dwarf of many talents. She currently lives in Waterdeep, but before leaving home she protected the Amberrock stronghold alongside her siblings. She now employs those skills as a sellsword, in between her daily job as head brewer for Buttle & Weiss Brewing Company, based out of The Great Drunkard Tavern. Previously she worked at the The Gray Griffin.
Her role also requires her to act as an ambassador between the Amberrock stronghold and the outside world. She periodically makes trips home to report on the goings-on beyond their mountain, so the dwarves don't become too far removed from what's happening around them. Upon returning to Waterdeep, she brings dwarven goods with her for Glenin to sell.

Appearance
Physical Description
Berta is uncommonly strong and sturdy, even by dwarven standards.
Body Features
Berta Amberrock is a dwarf. If one has a preconceived notion of what a dwarf looks like, Berta would likely be that. She's 4'10" of pure stoutness, with the piercing green eyes and flaming red hair common to paler-skinned mountain dwarves. Her hair is intricately braided close to the scalp, and thin braids clasped with golden ornaments hang loose from her thick pony tail. She clearly takes pride in keeping her full beard well-groomed.
Apparel & Accessories
She wears a simple but sturdy forest green tunic (the color reminds her of the groves her family would pass through on their way to Waterdeep for the Shieldmeet festivities), over leggings the color of the sky on a comfortably cloudy day - somewhere between blue and gray. Her armor is trimmed with golden accents and exemplifies the artistry of dwarven metalcrafting. Her boots, belt, and bracers are crafted out of rich brown leather, as is the thin strap holding most of her hair back in a barely-contained pony tail.
Specialized Equipment
Berta is a Battle Master trained in two-weapon fighting. As she grew stronger and more adept, she traded her twin axes for two longswords.
As a "signing bonus" for working exclusively with Buttle & Weiss, Berta received a Dwarven Thrower, a rare artifact somehow procured by Weiss. She promptly named the magical jeweled warhammer "The Bertalizer".
Mentality
Personal history
Berta's family have long been the protectors of the Amberrock clan. Currently the task falls to Berta, her older twin siblings Havick and Bedarra, and her younger sister Arazziline. Although she loves her family, her clan, and her work, she became restless spending day-in day-out in the confines of the mountain. As a child her parents would take the family to nearby Waterdeep for the quadrennial Shieldmeet celebration to witness the contests of skill (in which her parents would often compete - never challenge an Amberrock to to an eating contest!). Despite the city's unsettling proximity to the sea, she always longed to spend more time there than these brief trips would allow. With her siblings' encouragement, Berta decided to indulge her curiosity and see more of the world.
Intellectual Characteristics
Berta is confident in her abilities, and she tries to instill this confidence in others. She's well-meaning but not quite the sharpest arrow in the quiver.
Morality & Philosophy
People deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.
With this philosophy in mind, she's much more willing to give people the benefit of the doubt and interact with races normally considered "enemies" of dwarves. She counts Drow and Half-Orcs among her close friends in town.

Personality
Quotes & Catchphrases
"Moradin, grant me strength!"
Virtues & Personality perks
Loquacious and outgoing, Berta is far less curmudgeonly than your average dwarf.
Vices & Personality flaws
Berta is not wrong. She is never wrong. If you think she's wrong, she's not. You are.

Contacts & Relations
Berta previously worked as a brewer and bartender at The Gray Griffin and is still on friendly terms with the proprietors.
She's currently the head brewer at Buttle & Weiss Brewing Company based in The Great Drunkard, centrally located near The Market and around the corner from Lightsinger Theater.
Recently Glenin invited Berta to join The Dwarven Smoke Circle of Waterdeep. She also continues to work odd jobs for him as a sellsword, schedule permitting.
Through her connections in the Smoke Circle, Berta was introduced to Sophia Skyspear and Dorothy Nasha, who gave her a lead on an apartment in their building. Berta spoke with the owner Ildar Orsabbas and now lives in one of the units above Orsabbas's Fine Imports.
Wealth & Financial state
Berta never gave much thought to money - she didn't have to. Her life in the stronghold was comfortable, and she earned her keep through defending the enclave.
Upon moving to Waterdeep she continued to barter her skills moreso than work for money. She traded her brewing skills for a room above the Gray Griffin while leaning on her combat ability to earn necessary coin, as not everything in the City of Splendors could be obtained through trading skills.
Now that Buttle and Weiss provide her with a generous wage, Berta isn't entirely certain what to do with the excess. For the first time in her life she has her own living space, so quite a bit is going into furnishing it, but a dwarf can only buy so many sofas.
Family Ties
Berta's immediate family consists of Ma and Da, her older siblings Havick and Bedarra, and her younger sister Arazziline.
Daretmaeline and Bozmad are warm, loving parents who only want the best for their children - even if that means letting them leave the safety of the stronghold to fulfill their dreams.
Havick and Bedarra are fraternal twins who are a bit too serious for their own good. Bedarra is five minutes older than her brother, a fact she likes to bring up whenever he tries to pull rank.
Arazziline, Razzi for short, is a delight. Closer in personality to Berta than the twins, she's committed to her task as clan protector but doesn't let the gravity of her position weigh her down.
Unbeknownst to most, there is gnome blood in Berta's ancestral line, which manifests itself in her and Razzi's more lighthearted dispositions as compared to most dwarves. Because of this, her family is well-suited for the role of Amberrock Clan ambassador to the outside world.
