Appearance
Physical Description
As a wizard, Kenopsia rarely has to rely on her own physical strength. She often spends long hours studying, feeding her body to reduce the distractions of a physical existence - which has resulted in some sedentary padding around the edges.
Body Features
Like most tieflings, she sports demonic horns, a tail, and ruby-red skin. Her horns -curling upwards through her hair like a gazelle's- are ridged and dark, and are usually polished or well-kept. Her tail is on the thicker side, though not anywhere near the thickness of a lizard's. The tip of her tail flattens out to a fleshy spade, and it is fully prehensile. Her skin is a deep ruby-red, fading to a lighter shade behind the tan lines.
Facial Features
Her face has the architecture for an angular one, although it is somewhat padded with her lifestyle and physique. The skin is smooth and unblemished, unmarked by age or wrinkles of any kind, giving her a youthful look. Most of the time, her expression becomes vacant as she transports herself to distant halls of knowledge, but amongst company, she seems ever on the brink of a secretive sort of smile.
Apparel & Accessories
Her favorite form of attire is a blue robe, bound with leather and adorned with golden and silvery metals. Stitched into the hem and etched into the leather and metal are various arcane runes that she has been using to steadily enchant her robe over the years. One of the enchantments is some form of cleanliness and mending, as it never shows signs of wear and tear.
Special abilities
Her eyes glow a bright, icy blue whenever she uses magic. She has learned how to suppress this with illusion, especially when stealth is important, but she tends not to bother.

Personal history
Born to a human family, Lyn Weaver's arrival and appearance were alarming to her parents. Neither knew why she had a fiendish appearance, so they took her to the local priests in search of answers. The priests' investigation revealed that her father's lineage (nine generations back) had made a deal with a devil for the soul of the ninth generation's firstborn. Fortunately, however, it seemed that the devil in question had since been slain, leaving the contract unclaimed. This meant that Lyn was not currently in danger, and indeed, was currently benefiting from the contract's gift of magic. However, the contract was not void: it was merely unclaimed, which meant that another devil could come along and seize it - and therefore, seize control of Lyn, as well.
Her parents then went to the nearest archmage, asking what could be done to break the contract. He did not have the resources (and neither did they) to void the contract completely, but he was able to add a clause that would protect Lyn should a fiend discover the empty contract.
In the meantime, her parents took her home and began the daunting task of raising a tieflingĀ in a society of humans. Having chosen to live in a small retirement community, that wound up being easier than they feared; Lyn suffered very little in the way of bigotry. And having decided to guide her interest in the supernatural rather than risk her experimenting on her own, they introduced her to magic (of which both her mother and father had some proficiency). Lyn was immediately captivated, and learned rapidly; with her parents to guide her, her ethics were easily shaped and guided.
Even so, Lyn could not be sheltered forever, and her parents knew that. Her fascination with history and magic would lead her beyond the borders of their little town sooner than any of them were really prepared for, but with her family's support, Lyn was able to face the prejudice against tieflings. To protect her family, she took the name Kenopsia, which was the name for her favorite emotion (the wistful, haunting nostalgia of standing in an abandoned location normally full of life), fulfilling a tiefling "tradition" (albeit for a different reason than most).
While studying magic, she caught the eye of certain professors of magic, who couldn't be less bothered by her race. Seeing her potential, they moved her into more advanced courses, where she easily outpaced other students. She soon found herself facing a new kind of prejudice - that of being perfect, the teacher's pet, or worse - a warlock, cheating and claiming to have her own power when it was really borrowed. Having always had little interest in socializing from the start, Kenopsia easily ignored these accusations, focusing only on ways to improve her study and her skills.
She eventually went out into the world at large as a sort of archaeologist, seeking out historical sites and arcane secrets. Her travels lead her far and wide, and her upbringing provides her with the resilience to face most bigotry with pity for the other's ignorance.
Education
Studying under her father, then under wizards at the Skysworn Academy in Timerith, Kenopsia has known magic since she was very young. Whether it was in her blood or not, she took to magic with an enviable ease, and delights in every aspect of it. She eagerly pursues knowledge in all its forms, always seeking out new ways of using her skills... usually simply for the sake of using them.
Intellectual Characteristics
Kenopsia has an ever-inquisitive mind, and is always studying situations and trying different approaches to see which approach is the most efficient. As a downfall, she lives life much more quickly than others, and tends to get impatient when they don't move as quickly as she does. Wasted time is anathema to her, and boredom is her frequent enemy.
Morality & Philosophy
Having been raised by two loving parents in a small society that accepted her for who she was, Kenopsia has experienced an idyllic world, where people help each other out of the goodness of their own hearts, having no bias or prejudices, and with positivity and optimism.
Her ideals have been tested as she experiences more of the larger world, but she retains the belief that the utopia she experienced as a child is possible everywhere. Her explanation for why it isn't is due to people's individual attitudes, and that it's their choice to live the way they do. She doesn't agree with it, but one thing she believes above all else is that people need to make their own choices.
Bizarrely, this makes it difficult for her to fight for her beliefs, because she believes that people need to stand up on their own if they don't like how they're treated; and she makes sure that she isn't put in a situation where she doesn't like how she's being treated.
Taboos
Controlling others is anathema to Kenopsia, whether it is through coercion, intimidation, force, or magic. She despises any form of control, and asserts that slavery is no different than death - and that of the two, she would take death.

Personality
Motivation
Kenopsia is driven by two primal motivators: a love of knowledge and a love of liberty. She avidly devours all material she can get her hands on, especially about magic, and uses it to explore and discover places that have been untouched for centuries. Her love of liberty comes out in a fixation on letting people make their own choices, though when played out to the extreme, this might seem cold or pitiless when it comes to the plight of others. If they ask her directly for help, she will be a champion of their desire for liberty and self-determination, but otherwise she assumes they're more comfortable where they are than where they'd like to be.
Virtues & Personality perks
Kenopsia is highly intelligent and analytical, and typically able to excavate the underlying motivations, root causes, and other secrets or unknowns.
Vices & Personality flaws
Her high intelligence and frequent rightness is often a double-edged sword; it often leads to arrogance and pride, and she has a tough time admitting when she's wrong, and absolutely despises looking like an idiot.

Social
Mannerisms
She is typically quiet at the outset, gathering information about a situation and/or personalities before speaking up. Sometimes, she remains quiet, which might lead people to thinking she's soft or easy. When she speaks, though, she is a combination of highly intelligent and confident, which can catch people off guard and make it difficult to argue with her.
