Lorina Lyubova grew up in the Varangian Lyubov Clan far to the west of the Vaasa, in the northern fjords of Icewind Dale, north of the Sword Coast. She spent much of her early life sheltered by her father, Jarl Markus Lyubov, though she would sneak out of the Jarl's lodge to row an abandoned rowboat within the vicinity of her home. This would cement in her a deep love for the sea.
In 1478 DR, her father made a deal with Father Kalyu of Palischuk that he would assume the throne of Palischuk if he assisted the Pravdan serfs in overthrowing the Order of Warlock Knights in the Ostraland region of the Vaasa. Lorina traveled with Markus to Palischuk, after a serf named Vasilej Starosta captured it from the Warlock Knights with only an angry mob. Injured during the battle, Vasilej was bedridden in the halls of Palischuk Castle along with the rest of the wounded, who Lorina would deliver water to. As Vasilej recovered, he would charm Lorina with romantic quips and Pravdan scripture, which captivated her and resulted in her growth as a Pravdan and the development of a romance between the two.
Once the Warlock Knights were driven from Ostraland, her father established the Kingdom of Palischuk and took the title of Knyaz. Lorina would assume the title of Princessa, becoming the sole heiress of the Palischian throne. Vasilej would be raised to knighthood in the Palischuk Druzhina, and the two made their courtship official. For two years, the couple would send letters to one another as Sir Vasilej travelled Ostraland to fight the Warlock Knights.
Vasilej's missions were dangerous and often she worried for his safety, being highly protective of her lover. Vasilej and his retinue, the Bogatyr, would one day be trapped behind enemy lines while scouting the Galena Veil. After he didn't return letters for months, she went out to find him, distraught that her lover may have perished. While traveling in the Galena Veil, she was captured by Warlock Knights that celebrated that they had captured the heiress to Palischuk. She would be taken to a cave in the Galena Mountains where her captors would laugh at her for walking right into the open and still wearing her finery instead of a disguise.
She held out hope that Vasilej would rescue her, and within two weeks the Bogatyr would raid the cave to get to Lorina. Vasilej and his brother, Bertryll, would cut down the soldiers that guarded her until at last all that remained between her and freedom was a Warlock Knight-Vindicator. Bertryll would shoot the knight-vindicator between the eyes, but as the warlock slumped over he hastily cast a runed portal beneath Lorina's feet.
AS LONG AS STARS SHINE -
Immediately, Bertryll jumped in after her, then the others within a few seconds. When she awoke, Bertryll was asleep in the grass of a lush asteroid but the rest of the Bogatyr were nowhere to be seen. For a two months, Bertryll would hunt small animals that made their way onto the asteroid while Lorina gathered berries for the duo to eat. The two began to lose hope that they would find the Bogatyr while in the deep expanse of the Astral Plane.
One day, a heavily-armored airship spotted the asteroid, also spotting Lorina and Bertryll. The crew of the airship, which turned out to be bloodthirsty pirates known as the Sea Dogs, would land at the asteroid and chase Lorina to capture her after they spotted her elegant dress. As Bertryll shot at the pirates to cover her, she tripped over a branch and was taken captive by the Sea Dogs. The pirates would leave Bertryll to the asteroid by himself, taking Lorina into their battleship and sailing off for distant stars. Even though she was caged in the ship's brig, she would gaze out through a hole and observe the stars, knowing that Vasilej was out there somewhere.
Lorina was being taken to a spaceport known as the Rock of Bral to be sold as a slave. She also learned two other things: it was the year 9382 DR and the ones that intended to buy her were mindflayers. With this information, she planned an escape and waited for the opportune moment. Pulling into port, she would be offloaded by a heavily-armed escort of pirates to the mindflayers. After coin was exchanged, she was taken to their shop. Unbeknownst to her, Vasilej and the Bogatyr had joined up with the Kolda, a crew of space adventurers, and were observing this transaction take place. As she set her plan in motion, so did Vasilej. Using transmutation spells, a crewmember bought Lorina for a unicorn and heavily explosive vial of liquid. As her cuffs were unlocked, she saw this as her opportunity and sprinted down the street.
As she ran, she heard Vasilej calling out both his name and her name. Turning around, she saw her champion running toward her. As the two reunited, they cried in one another's embrace. She would accompany Vasilej to the Kolda, where the two gazed at the stars beyond with an acceptance that while they may never return to Palischuk, home is where the heart is, and that her heart belonged to Vasilej. They vowed the divine mandate of their love for as long as the stars themselves shine.
The Kolda would sail to complete its mission of capturing a solar dragon's egg from its lair in an asteroid. They would race against clown pirates and the Sea Dogs, being beaten by the Sea Dogs but not the clowns. Vasilej and the crew would steal the egg as the clowns killed off the Sea Dogs in battle, and they were killed off by an enraged solar dragon. Before the Kolda could start her engines, the solar dragon would fix the airship in place to prevent their escape. The dragon would make a deal with Vasilej to return the egg to her. In return, the dragon would spare the Kolda and return Vasilej, Lorina, and the Bogatyr back to Palischuk.
The deal would be made, and Lorina would return home to Palischuk by Vasilej's side, leaving the Astral Plane behind. Back in Palischuk, Vasilej would marry Lorina, becoming Prince Vasilej Starosta. By the Knyaz and the people, he and his Bogatyr would be hailed as heroes for saving the kingdom's future. Though Lorina was safe, she lamented that Vasilej had to continue leaving and wished only to remain at his his side.
