The handsome, dashing, dueling high-elf twink of Captain Kat's Crew "Dead on the Water". Once part of a larger group, captured and betrayed, El sought new buisness and now has earned his sea legs, fighting with his sword.
- Date of Birth
- 6th April
Lithe, agile, surprisingly tough keeping while light footed and moving quickly to strike at the best moment. Keep's dueling skills sharp with routine practice. Does rigging work to keep himself agile with the odd scar here and there, which is mostly covered by clothing.
He has a rather slim frame which works with the more elven blood he has, but he has some tone to him showing years of hard work. While not muscular, he works best with core strength and looking good as he does.
El has elven like ears with a naturally fair complexion. He has brown eyes and blonde hair.
Other than his pure sex appeal, his elven features, his red blade hilted to his hip, his smile and wavy blonde hair stand out most for El.
He motions with his right hand as he talks, his left usually kept close to his sword> his smiles aren't always a sign of welcome; a front at most.
Apparel & Accessories
El tends to wear his studded leather armour which goes on the chest and shoulders. He lives in darker shades of clothing, usually grey or black. He always wears a jacket with a hood (which was once Ronan's), trousers with brown boots and a white collared shirt under the jacket. He wears leather gloves, a leather belt with a pouch of his thieves tools, some slots for some hand axes and a dagger too.
His rapier, the Scarlet Saber, a magical weapon which is a perfect fit for a duelist, able to adapt and change on the fighting style which is excellent for piercing and slashing. He carries with him his trusted thieves tools as well, where his finesse gets him into chests, through doors and more.
Magical abilities, usually work in Evocation or Abjuration, but has a couple of spells for a sneaky steal or a quick get away as well as being rather good at one on one combat.
El lived a rather quiet life, which really isn't a bad thing when it comes to growing up but El has always sought a thrill growing up, be it climbing too high in a tree or see what happens when you put mud in the landlord's boots. His need for something interesting did land him in trouble. Whilst his more elven inclined family disciplined him for his actions, it didn't temper much.
He learnt the art of dueling from his father, as it was said discipline would help bring El to his senses but all he did was use his new skills to win every stick fight with the other children. He was always a troublemaker. His skill of magic came from his time travelling with his old group of bandits; one of them had magical talents and taught El the basics; the rest he learnt from bards or stolen pages in magic books.
El's first "proper" work was aiding in some woodwork which he started at 18 and kept on till about 25. Since he was lithe and acrobatic, he could easily climb up to rooftops and hammer things into place. To say it was a bore was a complete understatement; it killed his desire for thrill.
That is until he packed his bags, grabbed his family's sword and ran to the open road to follow a band of men and women who had made such a ruckus at his home town, El's Bandit Crew. He would live his life as a highway bandit! The thrill of the chase, heart racing to your ears with combat, feeling richer than you were yesterday! The thrills awakened him and spent about a good 5 years running with them.
At 30, they were caught. El spent 10 years in prison, waiting, planning, readying himself to ruin those he called family and sold him out, which took about 3 years since it seems they never learnt since. Now he spends his time on Captain Kat's ship, Dead on the Water.
Accomplishments & Achievements
El's always considered his achievements to be on the practical sense, from the men he has cross swords with in combat to the men he has been able to see to the bedroom.
He prides more on how he won the favour of Captain Kat. Yes, he may have stowed away on her ship, but he thought quickly.
"We can duel. If I win, I stay; if you win, you kill me!"
Amazingly, she went with it. They were about to duel when problems came as rivalling pirates decided to interrupt the proceedings. With El working with the Captain in fighting them off, the duel was somewhat forgotten. El found himself even taking to the rigging and fighting them so high up across narrow ledges, just like in the best pirate adventure stories!
Their official duel still hasn't finished and they'll get around to it. Eventually.
Failures & Embarrassments
El's failures are quite close to home. He's never felt like he fit in with his family and he wanted to be able to make them proud, but he never fit their mould. He presumes they don't speak of him now, as he's somewhat a criminal on the waters.
Another would be how his "second" family fell so hard, so quickly. He trusted them, loved them, but all he got was blamed and jail time. At least they're regretting it now but it still hurts.
(Also he gets very flustered around half-orcs, he just really likes them.)
Back when he was in his bandit crew, he became rather close to another who was there for a longer time. He showed him the ropes, how to act, when to strike, how to be charming and deadly. He was an older male, a human Ronan (El's Lover), who kept El close like a mentor and student. He also helped El discover more about himself than he knew already as things got rather romantic
It all came to a sudden stop when, during a job, reinforcements came and El was caught flatfooted. Ronan felt the need to step in and take the spear that was meant for him. El learnt then to keep allies close and how hard love hurts.
He may know magic but he doesn't exactly know what it is. He knows how to make things easier for him in combat, such as protection and escaping, and he's comfortable knowing the bare basics. It's all just a bunch of floating numbers to him.
He doesn't think much about the long game. He works on impulse which is what has gotten him this far. The only time he's ever planned anything was how to get back at his old crew and, even then, it was rather difficult but thankfully he had the time.
He has a basic education, some geographical knowledge, not much in terms of survival, maybe how to start a fire or more recently how to tie a good knot. He's mostly judged people by their characteristics but isn't above knowing he's been corrected. For example, he may see a new face on the ship and not think of much of them until action where either his view is changed or stays the same.
Morality & Philosophy
El keeps a façade of self importance, slightly flirting and a tad condescending but he cares, he always cares. He cares about the family he ran from, he cares about the new family he's had on the waters. He tells them off, he teases them but he'll do what he can to protect them.
Perhaps in a hypocritical sense, he tries to look out for himself as well. While he defaults to caring, a part of him worries about being betrayed again; he has some struggles. He does what he can to be of use to the team. He tries to not give them a reason to see him gone, so he fights as hard as he can, not hesitating to kill when he has to. However, even he can size up against others and knows when to run rather than fight. He has that sense at least.
El definitely enjoys the company of men. Men his age, men older than him, humans, elves, half-orcs, dragonborns...
Thanks to Ronan's teachings, he knows his type. Who says a pirate can't rob a man and charm him too?
Common, Elven and Infernal
His main desire is to catch up on the freedoms he has lost in his time in prison, acquire new riches and perhaps, find somewhere he could settle down (though he doesn't tell that to anyone).
