He was raised in Askia in the royal palace with his father as his bastard.
 
The one time he remembers meeting with his mother, she apologized for not keeping him with her. She said that if he had been a daughter she could have provided protection, but she thought he would have a better life with his father. She gave him a gold head ornament that the Tier women wore and passed to their daughters.  She said it’d been in her family for generations.

Education

At the advise of the emperor's advisor, he was trained at the Askia School of Magic.

Employment

He is sent by his father as a diplomat to Mattiacii to establish trade.
