*Cecil grew up North of Sethir in one of the small villages nearby the northern border of Yul. With the Forest so close, most of the town incredibly boring, and anything of interest so far...Cecil sought out to understand, respect, and befriend the forest and its people. The Dryad Nessala was as constant companion for many years as they would both share in the new experiences and would tell each other stories about the ones the other wasn't present for.
*At around the age of 10 or so Cecil's Village, like many of the others in the area, was affected by a Blight(Or Plague) that was ravaging the area. A lone Adventurer, clothed in robes with a staff and book and wearing a few symbols of different dieties, arrived and began to treat the people and the land in the village and the surrounding area. The stories that the villagers would tell is that this Adventurer was well spoken and well read, and that they came from far to the Southwest. Cecil's family was poor and of little means, and didn't have any way to give young Cecil the learning and training he desperately needed. Cecil was already hanging around this Adventurer constantly, asking questions, observing, and being run off by the villagers for being a nuisance. Cecil's Father is the one who, whilst he was being treated by the Adventurer, asked if he could take on Cecil as an Apprentice.
*With the Adventurer's assent Cecil became his apprentice. Which meant Cecil had to go say goodbye to good friends. He returned to the Forest and Nessala, told them what was happening and where he was going. With a hug and a promise to someday return and tell them all about the many new experiences, he was left with a trinket hailing him a friend of the Forests. This little Trinket held a promise not only to return, but also that if there was good land that a grove could be grown at to plant it. That someday another child like him might find it a sanctuary, or maybe even the Forest People's themselves might be able to travel there and have new experiences.
*Cecil traveled with the Adventurer for many years, learning all that he could from them. He learned that the Adventurer was an Archivist. They were traveling the world to learn all that could be. That old knowledge might be uncovered and remembered. They spoke highly of the town of Asgard, where mighty Academy's and Libraries stood, of the town of Thaland and its Library and myriad of Wizards. And they told Cecil all about the various Religions and what it meant to be dedicated to the Gods in ones Life Pursuit. Cecil would not truly understand this last point until sometime later.
*That sometime Later came in the form of an encounter on the road between Sanguine and Geirlseni. With Cecil's Master occupied with a dangerous matter, Cecil was left for a few days at an Inn on the Road. A Mysterious Young Man happened to take a seat on the same bench as Cecil whilst Cecil was listening to the local bard tell tall tales. He struck up a conversation with Cecil and they continued talking into the long hours of the following day. They talked about everything. At no point did Cecil ever even consider that the range of topics and the breadth and depth of interrelated knowledge that it took to keep up on their conversations, at least not then. After the Mysterious Young Man left Cecil was changed. He was going through the motions with the Adventurer before, but now he understood it. It was in this moment he dedicated himself to Knowledge, its Pursuit and the mission to perserve it, recover it, and share it with the world.
*On Cecil's 16th birthday the Adventurer and He arrived at Asgard. The Adventurer introduced Cecil to all the people they knew, the Chapter of the Order they were part of and handed Cecil's Apprenticeship over to the Masters and the Loremasters. Cecil had a lot to learn still and was in good hands when the Adventurer departed after a months' time on another grand jaunt across the Continent with a band of others, off on some Quest.
*Cecil spent a number of years continuing to learn but also listening to stories, convincing people to let him read their Holy Texts, talked to experts on things far and wide, and even talking to and befriending those whom other scholars might have scoffed at. Every encounter a chance to learn something. Every story, adventure, quest, encounter, tall tale, conspiracy, theory, conjecture...it was all important in some way.
*He learned the skills needed to be a scribe/chronicler, and began offering his services to groups that were leaving Asgard. With the blessing of his teachers he began his early adventuring with a variety of groups. He spent his early time writing down what he experienced and heard, interviewing his companions during the travels and asking for insights into events that occured to them after the fact. He became a good font of information as people ran up against new foes, he was always paid fo rhis services out of a share from the party and they also in return would often protect him while he investigated sacred places they found and while being respectful of the place would make sure to document all he could.
*He's only run into his original Master a couple of times hence, usually in passing on Asgard while one of them is coming and the other going. Has had only that one run in with the Mysterious Young Man. The last time he visited the Forest people and Nessala was 5 years ago on a chance to separate from the group he was traveling with for a few days or so to venture from Sethir to visit his village, family and the Forest. Approaching 25 years upon this plane and he has yet to find a good place to plant the new grove, and still has many new experiences and new adventures ahead of him.
