As the crew of the Tirade works, a hearty sea shanty booms out from them. There are no instruments or Bards about to keep any semblance of an actual tune. Standing at the helm, bags under his eyes and gently sipping from a bottle of Rum, is captain Jack Hillay. He turns to his navigator and shrugs, as a call finally rings out from the crow's nest. The quarry has been spotted.
Captain Hillay smirks, and shouts to the deck below. "You know what that means, friends!" A turn and a nod to the Ship's Mage, and the Tirade gains a burst of speed as the winds around the ship shift to propel it forward. The captain takes a step, and everything about his demeanor changes as the opposing ship comes into view. He stands taller, his eyes have more focus, hell, for once, he even smiles. There's nothing quite like a hunt.

Personal history
Jack grew up in the north of Qeelak Isle, adopted and named by a pair of humans. His moms were kind to him, and tried their best to help him seek out and learn from his culture. Though his knowledge was limited, he quickly found himself devoted to Herne, the goddess of the hunt, who is commonly associated with the wood elves of the region. He, however, found himself much more attracted to city living than the forest way of life typically associated with those of his religion. To Hillay, the hunt became crime. The thrill of stalking your prey and shaking their wallets dry. And in that sense? There's no greater hunt than the one you can find on the high seas. So Jack saved his dirty money up for a small ship, and applied for membership of the Queelak Guild. Difficulties arose, but after striking a deal with an up and coming member of the Qeelak guild, he took to the seas with his crew at his side, and an incredibly competent first mate.
Failures & Embarrassments
Jack was unable to receive membership from the Qeelak guild. Rejected due to his ever growing list of past run-ins with the authorities, as well as his lack of actual history as a sea captain. Jack was forced to find someone else who could give him the protection tht comes with being a Qeelak guild member.
