Special abilities
Elves are a people of otherworldly grace, long-lived and passionate. In the earliest days of the multiverse, the first high elves settled in fey crossings, places where the natural world and a fantastic realm of magic and emotion, known as the Feywild, touch and overlap. The high elves mystically took on characteristics blending both realms. Abravan's facility with language and his innate understanding of useful magic are part of that mystical adaptation.
As a high elf, you have the following traits.
- Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light and in darkness in that radius as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.
- Fey Ancestry. You have advantage on saving throws you make to avoid or end the charmed condition on yourself.
- Keen Senses. You have proficiency in the Insight, Perception, or Survival skill.
- Trance. Elves don’t need to sleep, and magic can’t put Abravan to sleep. He can finish a long rest in 4 hours if he spends those hours in a trancelike meditation, during which he retains consciousness.
- High Elf Magic. Some of Abravan's spells reflect the innate magic of a high elf, not his wizardly study.

Personal history
Abravan's parents identified his magical talent early in his long elven life and arranged for him to be apprenticed to a kindly wizard in the city of Waterdeep. He excelled at your studies and forged friendships and rivalries with other apprentices. Abravan always had a particular knack for wielding flashy, energetic forces, and focused his study on the school of evocation.
Dragons of Icespire Peak
After graduating from his apprenticeship, Abravan and his peers went their separate ways to focus on his own studies. He later received a letter from one of his colleagues, pointing him toward a source of lost knowledge. Shortly after the letter arrived, he learned tragic news: his friend died under mysterious circumstances.
Dragon's Rest
With his friend's letter pointing his towards Stormwreck Isle, Abravan decided to travel there and begin by speaking with Runara: the elder of the Dragon's Rest, a monastery on the island. He boarded a ship traveling there and met other adventurers seeking wisdom at the monastery: Im'hoss, Torgga Ungart, Ulfred , and Paco McTaco.
When the four of them finally arrived at the isle, they were attacked by undead: drowned sailors. Despite his fear, Abravan joined Im'hoss and Torgga in battling the undead and were soon joined by the dragonborn monk, Altan Ashheart, who came from Dragon's Rest to greet them. After the undead sailors were defeated, Paco began trying to commit disgusting acts against Im'hoss. Abravan wasn't part of apprehending Paco due to his lack of physical prowess, but he did voice his deep displeasure at the halfling's behavior.
Once Paco was imprisoned in a repurposed monastic cell and replaced by his twin brother Guaco McTaco, the party introduced themselves to the monastery's inhabitants. Abravan was able to establish friendships with some of the kobolds there before speaking with Runara to ask for wisdom concerning his quest finding the observatory mentioned in his friend's letter.
“Many have sought the knowledge contained in that place. I can direct you there, but first you need to show me you are worthy.”— Elder Runara to Abravan when he asked about the observatory
She promised to direct Abravan to the observatory after they help deal with the other problems on the island.
Seagrow Caves
Abravan accompanied his new adventuring party on their first quest: reestablish contact with the myconids of the sea caves. While Abravan didn't do much of significance during their first adventure, as a sage he was able to identify much of the flora and fauna of the caves such as heart caps, ruby morsel, fume drakes, and a fire snake.
While dealing with potentially hostile myconids, Abravan advised that the party remain peaceful and understand that the myconids are afflicted by some form of disease.
He also was able to confirm the value of the obsidian egg shards for the party.

DRAGONS OF STORMWRECK ISLE: DISCOVER LOST KNOWLEDGE
A secret sought by a dead colleague drives Abravan. Their letter spoke of an arcane observatory built on a nearby island by wizards long gone, and it hinted at powerful magic hidden there. A small cloister known as Dragon’s Rest also resides on the island. The caretaker of the cloister’s temple to the dragon god Bahamut, who is a patron of heroes and a champion of justice, must have information regarding the observatory. This Elder Runara can set you on the path to discovering the knowledge your friend never found.
