Personal history
Early Life
Morgran was born to a family from Luskan. Their caravan was attacked by Many-Arrows raiders as they traveled south to Neverwinter. Though most survived the attack due to Lords' Alliance and Neverwintan guards arriving, Morgran's parents had been killed. The survivors were escorted to their next stop at Port Llast where a dwarven family adopted Morgran. He was then raised with dwarven customs and beliefs and worked hard at his family's shop in Port Llast as an artisan; primarily smithing.
Clan Crafter
One day, Morgran noticed that strange tattoo-like runes had appeared on his body. His adoptive parents recognized that the symbol and runes meant that Moradin had blessed Morgran with the Mark of Making: a mark of power that improves its bearer's skill and magic related to craftsmanship. Not wanting to waste this, his parents worked hard and made whatever sacrifices they could to get him a proper apprenticeship under a dwarf craftsman in either the north or Neverwinter. Eventually, they were able to secure an apprenticeship in Neverwinter for him.
Morgran traveled to Neverwinter where he was apprenticed under Gundren of Clan Rockseeker. After swearing an oath to not reveal the secrets of dwarven craft, Morgran worked hard as Gundren's apprentice. Gundren became somewhat of a father figure to him away from home in addition to being his mentor. His work paid off when he finally completed his apprenticeship and was given the title of Clan Crafter which is not given lightly, especially to non-dwarves. After this, Gundren and Morgran went their separate ways with Morgran returning to Port Llast and Gundren leaving with his brothers to the frontier town of Phandalin.
Many-Arrows Marauders
Morgran had hoped to return home and get back into the family business, improving it with what he had learned in Neverwinter. Unfortunately in his absence the Many-Arrows marauders led by Brughor Axe-Biter raided Port Llast. The Many-Arrows were eventually driven off by the town but not before they killed, stole, and destroyed much of the town. Among them, Morgran lost his adoptive family and their smithy/shop as well as their home. Morgran used his skills to help the town rebuild and repair what he could and joined the town militia.
The Haunted Cornfield
Morgran, Elyzabeth Briarheart, Ilvarus Everhunt, and his childhood friend Leander Proudmane were tasked by Telyma with investigating the abandoned O’Vana family cornfield and help give Sibyl the confidence to return, or at least help her move past her trauma.
Return to the City of Skilled Hands
When he felt his work was done he salvaged as much as he could from the rubble and headed out to Neverwinter, hoping to find work that pays well enough to one day return home and rebuild.
Upon returning to Neverwinter, Morgran found that it being the City of Skilled Hands meant not only was it a great place to get an apprenticeship but that there was no end to the competition. While Morgran's craftsmanship was good, he lacked the resources and connections to make anything of it. He decided to get work as a mercenary/adventurer, working to earn money until he could establish his own forge.
Morgran soon heard that Leander had followed rumors of the leader of the raiders that attacked Port Llast was now in the region near Phandalin. Remembering that his old mentor had also headed out there he decided to go there himself, hoping he'd be able to join Gundren's smithy or possibly his own. After all, a frontier town is always in need of a smith. And who knows, maybe he'd be able to help Leander bring the Many-Arrows marauders to justice.
Lost Mine of Phandelver
Hearing rumors that the Triboar Trail had become dangerous due to raiders watching the road, Morgran decided to risk heading to Thundertree to ask the druid there for help traversing the Neverwinter Wood to go to Phandalin that way.
About halfway there, Morgran was attacked by an owlbear. He fought bravely but was no match for the monster. Thankfully he was rescued by Leander's party. They calmed down the owlbear and, after befriending it, Ilvarus informed Morgran that Leander had perished fighting the dragon Venomfang so they were headed to Neverwinter to find a priest able to resurrect him. Morgran then joined them.
Education
Morgran was raised by his family to learn craftsmanship to help with the family business and showed a real talent for it. When his adoptive parents saw that he bore the mark of Moradin, they sent him to Neverwinter to apprentice under Gundren Rockseeker. Morgran worked hard under Gundren until he earned the title of Clan Crafter.

An Artisan's Ambitions
You learned a useful trade in Neverwinter, but the city is home to too many artisans with that skill. Now, you’re heading to Phandalin, where you hope to start a lucrative business.
Morgran was apprenticed to Gundren Rockseeker while living in Neverwinter. With his family now dead and family-owned business destroyed, Morgran hopes to start his own smithy and business elsewhere.
There is an abandoned smithy in Phandalin with no smith for miles. The perfect place for Morgran to start up his own business.
Civilize Phandalin
Hardy settlers have been rebuilding another ruin near the city: the old town of Phandalin, which orcs sacked five centuries ago. Clearly, what Phandalin needs now is a civilizing influence—someone to take the reins and bring law and order. Someone like you.
You’re not the only one with such ideas. A knight named Sildar Hallwinter recently set out for Phandalin in the company of a dwarf named Gundren Rockseeker. They plan to reclaim an ancient mine and restore Phandalin to a civilized center of wealth and prosperity. Since your goals align, Hallwinter should be willing to assist you.
Upon arriving in Phandalin, Morgran made his desire to join the Lords' Alliance known. He immediately got into contact with Sildar Hallwinter, a knight of the Alliance and friend of Morgran's mentor, Gundren Rockseeker. After being caught up on the villainy of the Spider's Web and the dangers his mentor was now in, Morgran and his Friends fought tirelessly to rescue Gundren, find Cragmaw Castle, and defeat the Spider and their allies.
Brughor Axe-Biter
A group of Many-Arrows marauders once raided my home, bringing death and destruction to my people. They destroyed my family-owned place of business, burned my home, and killed my family. I've heard rumors of a group of marauders led by Brughor Axe-Biter being spotted near the frontier town of Phandalin. Perhaps it is finally time to take revenge.— Morgran P. Halderhek
When Brughor Axe-Biter led an attack on Phandalin, Morgran worked with his Friends and others to protect the town and its people. Morgran, Leander, and their friends then confronted Brughor at Alderleaf Farm after he had slain Maggot. Together with his comrades, Morgran was able to slay his hated enemy.
