Appearance

Physical Description

Ezre appears, at first glance, to be delicate and lithe, but beneath the small stature is a well-trained swordsman and carefully-honed defender.
 
Standing at only 5'5" with rich, raven-black hair shaved in patterns as an undercut style on the sides and the rest of it near-back length worn in braids or up in a messy bun, he has equally dark pools of shadows for eyes. His skin is dark and tawny, with hints of freckles when he's been in the sun.

Body Features

His expressive face is marked by a tattooed line that begins at his lower lip, splits his chin down the middle, and travels downward to divide the left and right of his body beneath his clothes.
 
He has a bright smile when he chooses to use it, though he is often very calm and steady, almost deadpan. He dresses simply, ready for travel and protected from the elements, as well as prepared to help others. He is confident in his bearing and it shows in his posture.

Identifying Characteristics

His most distinguishing mark is, of course, his Dragonmark of the House Deneith, the Blademark of a Sentinel, that appears prominently on the back of his neck, below the base of his skull, especially when he wears his hair up and keeps the majority of his scalp shaved close. The rest of his body, from hands to feet, are decorated in linework tattoos in geometric patterns.

Personal history

Ezre was born into the Karrn heritage of great soldiers and mercenaries that carried the name of House Deneith. His own family was built firmly upon a long line of loyal, elite warriors with a strong faith in themselves and their Divinity Within. Seekers in Rekkenvale, just north of Rekkenmark and its famous (or infamous, depending) Academy, Ezre's family traced their history through the Order of the Onyx Skull and through their Deneith bloodlines with stoic confidence.
 
As a boy, Ezre showed great promise in martial prowess, but also much compassion. His generous, kind spirit was not favored by his father, who considered the boy too soft for such lofty duties as guarding the lives of others, though there was no denying the Mark he bore once Ezre came of age. The youth simply found himself following a different path, studying medicine, pursuing faith, and discovering just how delicate the balance between life and death really was, considering how close a witness he was to both sides of the grave. Truly inspired by the rich Seeker legacy of his small town, the youth found himself seeking his own inner strength, watching as famine ravaged through the Rekkenvale and learning to prepare bodies for the ultimate sacrifice of unlife.
 
While he has no interest in confirming or denying the existence of the gods (selfish and cruel as they seem to be), Ezre found his own Inner guidance and leans heavily on sacrifice and honor of the oathbound priests that serve within the Blood of Vol. He takes seriously his role as light in the darkness, as a source of life and hope before the end that is death, and he celebrates those that willingly give of themselves for others.
 
In order to better serve his House as a healer and medic, Ezre has gone on sabbatical from his family home in hopes of seeing more points of view than his temple; learn new skills while growing in strength; and to be the eyes and ears of his patron House.

Education

Ezre was educated at Rekkenmark Academy upon passing the entrance examinations, but instead of following a warrior's path, he chose one of faith and medicine. He studied how to care for the body and caught the attention of the clergy of the Blood of Vol. Finishing his studies in Fort Bones, Ezre learned how to care for the bodies of the dead and honor those Karrn soldiers who wished to continue to serve their nation in undeath.
