Kort was the son of a blacksmith. When he was a child his grandfather died but not before issuing a challenge to his father and uncle. The best Smith would inherit the position of village blacksmith. Though his father was better, his uncle through bribery and underhanded tactics won the contest and ran the family out of town. When they settle down kort made a vow of vengeance to always protect people from people like his uncle.
