Being a talented Air Genasi Wizard from the Silver Coast, Nimbus brings his prowess and ingenuity every day as a member of the Redshift Expedition. After his studies in wizardry, Nimbus traveled with the Troupe of No Return, before joining the expedition.

Magic comes innately to Nimbus, as a child of an Air Genasi father known as Windspark, and Water Genasi mother known to Nimbus as Tidestalker. Windspark is a Druid of a rare circle which spans the planes, while Tidestalker is known by many names, and is worshiped as a deity or water spirit by the sailors passing through her waters. Both are quite powerful, and both are quite dedicated to their own duties, meeting but once a year.
 
While Nimbus was left to his own from a fairly early age, he was not abandoned. At times, he could visit the region of his birth, and by means known innately and only to Nimbus, he can call upon either parent for audience but once per year.
 
Upon discovering his latent but unexpressed arcane powers, his parents suggested for Nimbus to take up the arts of the Wizard to channel it into something functional. A hermit living within a seaside cavern, hidden behind a waterfall, under the protection of Tidestalker, provided such training. The wizard gave him an ornate old spellbook that was never used, and that resists the weathering of moisture and salt better than a conventional book of similar size.
 
This wizardly training also led Nimbus to be more attuned to the elements, nature, and the arcane. He took every opportunity to train and advance, and while there wasn't much physically-intensive training, Nimbus grew to be an incredible specimen, one with the potential to reach the power of his parents one day.
 
After departing from his training, Nimbus took to traveling and learning more about the world. It wasn't long til he met a friendly troupe of entertainers who had formed their own caravan service, and joined with them to travel and learn more about the ways on the common folk of the world. It wasn't long after that he was singing, dancing, playing a shawm, and making up captivating new tales, sometimes even putting magic into the performances in areas where superstition wouldn't get them run out of town.
 
As the reputation of the troupe grew, they were asked to perform at a Dwarf city of notoriety. The path the troupe took was one that had not been used in decades, and was thought to be cursed or haunted - a fact they learned later. A couple boulders suddenly slammed down to block the caravan in place, and a voice boomed its threat of accursed damnation across the trapped group. In an attempt to draw out the aggressor, Nimbus tapped into his innate ability to levitate, and demanded they face him alone.
 
The voice boomed out again, this time in Primordial, telling Nimbus where to go. Showing no hesitation, Nimbus floated to the location, and was surprised to see an beautiful Earth Genasi awaiting him. They fabricated a battle that the troupe never saw, in which they both appeared to be defeated, and the boulders dissolved and blew away as if they never existed. Nimbus watched the solemn group continue along their way towards the destination, too low on resources to turn back.
 
Terra, the Earth Genasi he met, convinced him to stay with her. Terra used that ambush scenario to toy with passers and frighten them with stories of a curse, otherwise preferring never to be bothered. But that was more for the Dwarfs who had used that route to get to a gem mine they'd discovered.
 
They spent some time together, enjoying each other's company, especially as Nimbus found ways to entertain Terra. One of the stories was about relations of a child and their wicked parent, which upset Terra as it reminded her of her own father. A few days later, Terra gave Nimbus an amulet with a very specially-formed Bismuth set into it, and said that it may one day be the key to something important. Not more than a few days later, a rift sundered open, and a furious song came pouring through. A percussive orchestra played the song while a mighty Dao appeared, conducting in one hand while effortlessly grabbing Terra to being back through the rift. The song was stunning, deafening, weakening, and neither Nimbus nor Terra could resist its awesome power. After passing through, the rift shut in an instant.
 
For many days after, the song played in full in his head, and Nimbus understood the message clearly: he was cursed, he and his kin cannot break the curse, and the curse affects offspring inversely. The curse is that he, a full-blood Dao, cannot ever produce full-blood offspring, and will create a Genasi mixed with any common race instead as a result - but his Genasi offspring will only ever produce a full-blooded Elemental as their offspring. This curse makes the Dao quite jealous, and seeing that Terra could one day go that far with Nimbus, decided to stop it immediately by taking Terra back to the Plane of Earth. He laid out the terms of Terra's return: breaking the curse, and proving that you can stand up to him in a battle of the elements arcane and a battle of performance.
 
Unable to find where the Troupe had gone after their last performance, Nimbus headed back to his homeland. Along the way, he got word of a tower of immense power, an abomination that twists anything it touches. His parents met with him, heard about the encounter with Terra and the Dao, and suggested that the tower may be a perfect place to train for his future battle.
 
 
"I was raised for 7 years, let to learn from the land with careful observation for 7 years, brought to study and learn of my familial responsibilities for 7 years, then by odd fate I was with the Troupe of No Return for 7 years."
