A new Chapter Begins

by Marak Soulbreaker

Its had only been a matter of hours after saving the local Lords rather talkative daughter before the Lord had another proposition for me, more work and a reward.
He mentioned a group of people that had helped once his villages, indeed when we arrived it was more like hamlet.
It didnt take long for things to get interesting, after the Lord waffled one about our reward and after i had maybe a few too many. (The ale of the dwarfs is apparently on par with any Draconic ale, well in terms of strength, it still tasted like grogshit) I ended up challenging one of my new human "companions", if i can call him that yet, to a test of strength! a rather simple arm wrestle, to my surprise he held his own! but of course, i eventually won out in the end. The rest of the night carried out in merriment. the Alcohol defiantly contributing to my involvement in such an affair.
however the call of duty is never far away. In the middle of the night we were woken by Guards and a women, a murder had taken place. Knowing that justice needed to be carried out we all sprung to action. Questioning the Human women then investigating the crime scene. The tale that the house told are grizzly and clear. one of the Lords knights swords stuck into a yet another human womens throat. Pina i believed the others said her name was. A Gnome in our party seemed particularly upset by this, all i cared about was swift justice, Emotions had no part in this.
After so more evidence gathering, Beau seemed to be in their element here.

Idryn, another one of my new "companions" who told me she was a cleric. Another interesting note was that she Seemed to be some sort of Sea elf, i have never seen any like her before, her voice seemed to echo, even in open air. Idryn strikes me as very inquisitive, when questioning the witness she spoke with purpose and asked questions that reviled even more information, alas at this point additional information seemed redundant. He had seen all we needed to see, we had already met the guard with no sword, a pathetic nervous wreck he was. I was ready to execute justice. Toll Haf Nom (the Gnome) and Sasanna (Companion number 4, another Elf but not the same as Idryn) both were as eager as me to do so, but Beau insisted that we tell the Lord, who was still in the inn after i had traveled with him in the first place to this back water hamlet. I agreed that we should at least tell him that one of his knights was under arrest for murder. He did give us this hamlet to us as a reward, although it was not official yet. We presented the evidence but a confession still eluded us. The nervous guard still proclaiming innocence as he clearly shook with fear and guilt. We decided to wait till Morning. I had a Spell that forced the guard, Jerry, to tell the truth, although he could still refuse to answer. When it comes down to it, we all gather in the main part of the tavern. i cast the spell and i knew it had worked, but the coward now refused to answer. He even tried to make a run for it, Sasanna was quick to react, with one swift blow he cut of the "Knights" arm. He screamed in pain as i lifted him up and smashed me against the wall, maybe alittle harder then i meant too. Humans are so fragile. he soon bled out, the head trauma probably didn't help him ether.
It was unfortunate. A public execution would of been preferred. Letting everyone know the fact of murderers and lawbreakers in this hamlet. I had to settle for stringing up the body in the middle of the hamlet, for all to see.
It was a satisfying ending. the Lord was of course alittle more somber that one of his knights had committed such a crime. he left with hamlet in our care and left.

Originally i had no interest in having a village of my own but seeing the lack of order and what the others have told me about the orc raid i feel like i can make a difference. Establishing order here, would keep me close to my oath. Maybe i can make it a haven for Draconics. Grow this place, let it prosper under true powerful order. Currently a population of 11 citizens, it could grow into a influential town! Maybe this is apart of destiny. Maybe my Goddess Tiamat sees glory in this work. I can train some mortals into worthy warriors. Yes, this feels like it was meant to be.
