Born in the capital sprawl of Valoria, Heyu Wutzup came into the world under scandalous circumstances—though she never knew the full truth. Her mother, a noblewoman of minor status, vanished shortly after Heyu's birth, and the infant was quietly left at the steps of a temple orphanage with no name, no note, and no explanation. The only clue was the child herself: green-skinned, with draconic flecks in her eyes and subtle scaling along her spine that no human child should possess.
 
In Valoria, where non-humans are tolerated at best and despised at worst, Heyu was a blemish. She was shuffled between temples, workhouses, and forgotten corners of society, always kept at arm’s length. Even among the other orphans, she was a target—too strange, too silent, too “tainted” to be one of them.
 
She learned early how to survive alone. Slipping through alleys, picking scraps, tracking the city’s rats and crows when food was scarce. At twelve, she slipped out of the city entirely and didn’t return. The wilderness welcomed her in a way the world never had. She made her camp beneath trees and beside rivers, scavenging and slowly learning the ways of beasts—until one day, she found the gemstone.
 
It was smooth and cold at first, but it warmed in her hand. She couldn’t explain why she kept it, only that it felt... hers. For years, she carried it, dreamt of it, heard it whisper in times of danger. And then, under a full moon and the howl of distant wolves, it hatched—not like a bird, but like magic breaking open. From the stone came Popcorn, a green drake whose scales mirrored her own.
 
From that moment, everything changed.
 
Popcorn’s presence awakened something dormant inside her. Her connection to the wild deepened, and her control over it sharpened. She became a Drakewarden, a protector of beasts and balance, wielding the very power that had once made her a pariah.
