Personal history

Sadie was a refugee displaced by war at a young age. While living destitute and homeless her family was taken by the Bandaari as slaves. Sadie was separated from her family and sold as a house slave due to her looks. For decades she worked for a powerful and wealthy family who kept her around to carry out basic house chores and to dance or sing for guest during parties. Sadie was treated well and given little work to do beyond entertainment. Eventually Sadie's owner died of old age and she was purchased from the estate by the Great Bath. As a slave of the Great Bath Sadie served as the most popular entertainer on stage and for the right price her owner provided her as company in private. After about a decade of this a handsome silk trader named Lawrence began to frequent the Bath and became infatuated with Sadie. Lawrence would often purchase Sadie's time at the Bath but never forced her to pleasure him. Lawrence would spend time with Sadie telling her stories about the wonders of Fadum and especially his homeland of Farscape. Sadie eventually fell for Lawrence and he tried to buy her freedom from the owners of the Bath, but his offers were refused. Not willing to accept defeat, Lawrence eventually convinced Sadie to run away with him to travel the world and see its beauty. Due to Sadie's high value, slave hunters were sent to track Sadie down and capture her. while gathering supplies in a neighboring city the couple were discovered and Lawrence lost his life trying to protect her. Helpless to save him, Sadie ran with all she could to avoid capture until she found and hid away in the back of a wagon meant for Farscape. Sadie eventually reached Farscape but realized she knew nothing about living on her own. Being filthy and half starved there were none willing to hire Sadie on her arrival, so she began making use of her other skills to survive. Sadie put everything she had learned as a slave to make enough money to survive. dancing or singing on a street corner. As wars continued onward, the job market continued to degrade and people were less willing to give to a street performer forcing her to eventually turned to prostitution to pull together what money she needed. After a few months of having just barely enough to put a rook over her head, Sadie was approached by a young woman with an offer. The woman tossed a coin to her and said "come to Agatha's tavern, speak with her and have a chance at being something greater than this." When Sadie came to Agatha she was offered the power and skills to make her life her own with the price being that she must study under Agatha and work for her carrying out any task she asks of her, refusal meaning she would go back to her life of squalor. Sadie accepted Agatha's deal and felt power begin to surge through her. Over the years learned many lessons such as cooking, serving, preparing rituals and poisons and even how to discreetly use the powers she had been given by her. More recently Sadie has been tasked with keeping an eye on an ever changing and growing party of adventurers as they travel the world in efforts to defeat a lich. Sadie has been watching them for nearly a year now now and outside of Agatha they have been the most stable thing she has had in her life in decades. During her time observing them she has grown fond of the party. Watching over the party as they sleep peacefully in their tents, and ensuring that whatever misfortune they came by was never too bad for them to recover from or even just serving them at Agatha's inn. Though Sadie has never actively been part of the party she still feels a connection to them and feels as though she has been a part of the party for years.

Education

Sadie has never had a formal education of any kind. Through her first owner Sadie learned song, dance and the violin. From her time at the Great Bath Sadie learned more of the same as well as the art of pleasure. From Agatha Sadie has learned of cooking, poisons and how to secretly and silently use her magic.

Employment

The only paid job Sadie has ever held is her job at Agatha's tavern.

Sadie has a natural talent for the arts and has mastered song, dance and the violin. She could easily compete with a master of any of these arts.

Sadie was torn from her family at the age of 5 and has spent 59 years of her life as a slave.

Intellectual Characteristics

Sadie has never been very bright. Sadie doesn't like to read and has never really been good at following written instruction. Sadie is quite quick witted and does excel at any task based more on intuition or that as she puts it 'sometimes you have to ignore what the books say and just feel what is right.'

Morality & Philosophy

Sadie's time as a slave has numbed her to the idea that anybody really has control of their lives. Nobody really has the power to control their life and the same goes for when they die. When it comes to the cold hard math of life and death there is no hesitation for Sadie. If you are supposed to live, then my shot will miss.
 
For this same reason Sadie stands strongly against the idea of slavery. People already have so little control of their lives. What right do you have to force your will upon another?
 
Live your life. Don't worry about what people say you should or shouldn't do. Take the risk, engage in the taboo. Don't waste what little power over your life that you have been given.
