as they had been going to this festival for years now, always taken the same way, he nodded as he went off to hunt. not long after they ran into a blockade in the road as bandits started to swarm them, brutally murdering the father outright before he even had a chance,
the mother fighting back desperately with her magic killing a few of them with Chromatic orbs, she started to try and cast again as a bandit came up beside the wagon grabbing her arm pulling her from the wagon and cutting her throat, dropping her to the ground. they took anything, that could be sold for money including the 5-year-old elf girl fetching the highest price of everything the family had.
Amrynn waited for his family to show up, waiting till a few hours before Dusk, to go back and find out where they had gone, to find his mother and father dead and his Baby sister gone.
the young elf girl was sold many different times for many different reasons before coming to an evil wizard at the young age of 26 who was conducting experiments with infusing arcane magic into live slaves, this young elf girl happened to be one of such experiments, sold with a group of 10 others of all different races and genders and ages, the wizard did different tests on each one, each test being brutal, harsh and most of all painful, the elf girl was brave and fearless fighting every step of the way just as she had done with all the people who bought her,
she didn't care she was beaten at every turn, she wasn't gonna let them break her. sitting in the cage she was thrown in for what seemed like days maybe longer, there would be days in-between where she was given no water or food, suddenly there was light pouring into the small room, putting up a hand to block the light from her eyes, seeing two heavily armed men, keys jingling in hand as they unlock her cage, she tried her best to bolt between the two men but she didn't make it in time before one of the men grabbed her collar letting her momentum pull her back as the magical collar shocked her and falling unconscious.
the elf girl awaking to find herself bound to a table by her new chains, she tried to break free, yanking and pulling doing nothing but rubbing the skin on her waists raw to the point of bleeding, she felt like she was in that cold dark room for hours till once again there was suddenly light, the female that came in looked like she was the lady of the house, wearing fancy clothes and clean, the woman started chanting in a weird language she didn't understand, as she felt this searing agonizing pain on her face as if someone was burning lines into her skin,
screaming out in unbearable pain, this went on for hours and every time the girl was going to pass out or even give into death to just stop this agonizing pain, the woman would revive her or use some kind of magic to keep her wake, she wanted the girl to feel the pain, the woman would laugh and say things to her but she didn't seem to hear the words the woman would say, after what seemed like a lifetime, the pain stopped and the woman was gone, she was still bound to that table, instead of trying to break free like the brave and fearless girl she once was, she lay there motionless and broken, they had broken her and now being able to control her with the arcane magic burned into her skin, she was one of the few who had survived this experiment, her mind had become numb, a mindless fighter for the woman controlling her like a puppet, for many years cut off from herself
fighting has always been considered a sport of sorts, people loved to watch others fight to the death. but when volunteers and indentured servants started running out, the games started to consist of slaves, people kidnaped or raised solely for the arena.
she never knew her birth name or her birth parents, the slavers would tell her and the other slaves a different horrifying story of how they could hurt them or kill them, tell them they were nothing, every time she failed a task there came a thrashing (being whipped) as well knowing she could not trust anything they said, and in turn, learned not to trust anything people would say and watched their actions more than listening to there words.
during one of her first fights in the arena showed where her talents would lie. in the arena with the dead scattered around, her opponent was an Orc male, she was sent out there to die. the fight was mostly her running and dodging, she was struggling to block this man's attacks with the one small sword she had, trying to hold his sword back pushing her sword into her shoulder.
quickly pushing back on him making him stager back, she drops her sword grabbing her shoulder, spotting a weapon and running and sliding to grab this new weapon laying close to her, noticing that the blade fits well in her hand, liking the feel. landing a few Slashes across the man's chest with the scimitar, Once spotting another one of these blades she dances her way around the man landing hits on him as she does so making her way to this other weapon.
armed with two weapons she was able to hold her own and eventually wore out her opponent and with the roaring of the crowd she crossed her blades cut his head clean off. falling to her knees dropping her newfound blades, she screams as she cries into her now bloody hands.
ever since that moment, Crystal considered herself somewhat of a monster, and every time she killed another in the arena that persons face would be added to the growing list of the innocence she had killed, to this day she is still haunted by their faces and still refuses to talk about it.
