Quimble has a crush on one of the characters (Eclair) she noticed "eventually" but not before the devil caught on and decided to use it for black mail this combined with "his consensus" telling him how terrible he was broke his spirit followed by a poor attempt at conversation with eclair, this lead to him heading home drenched in shame.
