2021-07-28 - The Dragon's In the Details Report

General Summary

The heroes are on the trail of the last of the stones and all that appears to stand in their way is a dragon. Just a little old dragon.   They traveled deeper into the caves, leaving behind the empty cages and the priests room and as they explored further they found more signs of the dead. A large alter had been constructed and an unclaimed drow, dead by a spear, lay in a basin for offering.   At the end of the labyrinth they found the priest, who babbled about changing time and sacrificing history to make a new future. All attempts to gain from him were futile and the dragon, Kaddok,  crept down from the caverns ceiling and offered the characters an option - he'd give up the stone if they obliterated the Crystal Pirates. Zylgwynn Mun blasted the dragon in the face and battle broke out.   The dragon leveled his energy breath weapon on the brothers, knocking Orinn Mun to the ground and it would take all of Wynnie's healing pool to stay afloat.   Grimogall Varangr , Thallan , and Floki all dipped off after the others in the room including several kobolds, but not before Floki cast cloud of daggers in the air above the dragon.   Cramus Wrenth seeing the cloud used levitate to lift one of the kobold exploders up into the air and into the cloud where he was shredded by the daggers and exploded in the air.   Cramus then confronted the dragon with his history, showing him the eggs that had been destroyed by the crystal pirates and the dragon flinched away. His siblings had been destroyed and he had been modified to serve a purpose, to guard the last stone. This memory forced the dragon to turn on Oxlyous Sunshard but in his anger did little to damage the Lauscha.   The priest realizing his guardian had turned used some kind of control to bring him back and then brought him back to his side and then began to run up toward the throne. Grim struck him down before he could flee.   Then the party made a plea to the dragon to join and help them and while he expressed a desire to destroy the Lauscha, he would be willing to travel with the party and see if some alternative might be worked out. Cramus used his fire magic to help Kaddok enter his human form thus enabling him to leave.   The party quietly raided the dragon's hoard, taking the Star of Melos-Pelar, a piece of some magical crystal, the dragon's platinum, and plate armor, which the dragon offered to Zylgwynn Mun for a single favor.
