Session 005 The Necropolis of Telamok Report

General Summary

The party woke up in Estoria. John & Hulgnir went to see Volkan who was asleep & couldn't be awoken. So they left money & a note about a shield John wanted crafted. Hulgnir gave Volkan an expensive wineskin bottle that he put in Volkan's arm. Volkan hugged it like a teddy bear. When they gathered the party they saw a Blue Dragon fly off before they headed forth. Hulgnir was offered a deal, swear to "the furies to never give foreign deities a foothold on Thylea, & to fix his mistake if it ever happened." & Pythor would fund a level 3 castle at the Mithril Mines. Hulgnir accepted the deal. The Oracle's Chosen went to the Dragon Shrine meeting, Aesop. They found that the shrine had been broken into a couple of days ago. The reliquary in the back had a hole in it & purple liquid (wine) that lead to an alley in the back. Goat hove tracks lead to the mossy temple. The Chosen went to the Necropolis, due to Oren having the curse.   On their way to the Necropolis they saw the body of the Leader of Sydon that they negotiated with crucified on the road to the Necropolis. Hulgnir preformed a rite of passage for him & learnt of Kyrah's concern of his foreign gods.   Kyrah spoke the Legend of Creation   Thylea was of the Old Gods—ancient even when the world was young. Gentle and generous, she was born into a time of war and chaos among her kind. Refusing to take sides in their disputes, she lived her entire life in contemplative silence, never speaking a single word.   Yet though she was silent, she possessed a powerful resolve that the other Gods sensed and respected. Even Kentimane of the Hundred Hands—the most violent and warlike of them all—was drawn to her quiet strength. She alone of all the Gods could quell his furious temper with her calming spirit.   Eventually, Thylea grew weary of the endless strife and conflicts. She isolated herself from the other Gods, seeking respite on the farthest edges of the ocean. Kentimane—now her lover and protector—followed, turning his back on war and violence to walk with Thylea on the path of tranquility.   Alone, the pair were happy for a time. But Thylea still felt all the pain and suffering in the world like a million arrows piercing her gentle soul. In time, her joy gave way to despair until, unable to bear it any longer, she drowned herself beneath the water.   Yet her death was not a surrender... it was a glorious sacrifice. Thylea’s body came apart; her head and torso floating back to the surface to become a chain of virgin islands. Her heart burst from her chest and transformed into a great tree rising up from the center of the continent she had birthed. Her limbs sunk to the bottom of the sea, stretching and twisting into great roots that connected each island, nurturing the fertile plants and gentle animals that sprang into being on the islands’ surface.   Kentimane’s grief over his lover’s death was inconsolable. Without Thylea to temper his moods, he succumbed once more to his most violent urges. Screaming his fury at the heavens, he thrashed and raged in the oceans around the body of his lover, unleashing terrible storms and massive tidal waves that threatened to swallow the new-born islands.   Yet even after her death, a part of Thylea’s spirit remained in the great Heart-Tree at the center of the islands. She reached out—silent as ever—and brushed against her mad husband’s mind, soothing his tortured spirit with a soft caress. Sensing her presence, the hundred-handed giant transformed his grief into a new purpose. Binding himself to what was left of his lover with a solemn vow, Kentimane became the ward and protector of the islands, taking up an eternal vigil in the waters around their untouched shores.   Fed by Thylea’s generous spirit—and with Kentimane keeping the evils of the outside world at bay—life in the Forgotten Land flourished into a perfect, unspoiled paradise. And finally, the Goddess who never spoke was content.   They walked in silence, no sound was around. Upon the path of the dead, Harpies tried to sing them to death. They resisted, except for Oren who was charmed by the song. The parry fought & won against the Harpies. They came upon a 500 foot cliff, & were swarmed.   The undead were relentless & there was a Minotaur skeleton there as well. Fortunately it was turned by Hulgnir & ran off the cliff.   A swarmed by undead the Chosen fought on. Their two clerics turned the undead, & they won the day.   They climbed up the 500 foot cliff, Kyrah had brought enough rope. Oren flew the rope up typing it on a bridge. Each of the Chosen went up one at a time, with Oren pushing their butts up the rope.   The walked up to this strange creature & he helped out his hand. Hulgnir attempted to speak to him & everyone received a vision of John giving him the burnished coin of the Dragonlords. Kyrah said, " HI Damon." Waved to him, turned to the Chosen & said quietly "he doesn't talk much."   When they passed Damon handed Euadne a Gem of Brightness.   Kyrah began to give a tour to the Chosen of the Oracle. This was the Necropolis of Telamok, a sacred Dragonlord site. They found the TOMB OF TELAMOK ARKELANDER a viscious Dragonlord. He slaughtered: women, men, children, centaurs, satyrs, cyclops, & more. The party realized that this Tomb would never accept consecration. So they attempted to loot it. Telamok rose as a Wright cursed to undead for his monstrous deeds.   The party called upon Kyrah's Oath of Service to serve them in the Necropolis of Telamok. (So she will help the party in combat here. So long as its not someone who serves one of the Titans, she is still bound by the Oath of peace.) Kyrah lept into combat.   The whole party joined in & were eventually victorious.   Kyrah took them to many tombs. Identifying each tomb that was or wasn't consecrated. The TOMB OF ADONIS NEURDAGON OATHSWORN OF RASPYTRION. (CONSECRATED).   TOMB OF ESTOR ARKELANDER OATHSWORN OF ARKRANIA. Kyrah seemed cold with this Tomb to John. John sensed that this tomb made Kyrah sad. Euadne saw a tear fall down her cheek. The Chosen of the Oracle were unnerved by the unusual behaviour of their chipper guide. They decided to leave this tomb alone. Estor Arkelander is the Captain of the ghost trireme Ultros. He isn't interred in this Tomb.   TOMB OF RIZON PHOBAS OATHSWORN OF SYBOLKORAX. This Tomb was consecrated.   TOMB OF MYRTO THE MAGNIFICENT. This tomb sits right in front of the massive Tomb of Balmytria. It has two clay golems sitting outside of the Tomb. It is not consecrated the Chosen decided to avoid this tomb.   THE TOMB OF ISADORE. Daughter to Damon. Consecrated.   THE TOMB OF LYSIS. This tomb was not consecrated Bronze beeastplate & shield with platinum inscriptions.   THE TOMB OF OCHOS ARKELANDER A Bronze Golem stands behind the sarcophagus Kyrah went in, grabbed the items out of the Tomb & ran outside while the Chosen were ready to close the Tomb right as she left. A +2 Breastplate, bronze short sword, & bronze shield   THE TOMB OF GREGOR. Was consecrated.   THE TOMB OF DORION NEURDAGON. This is the Tomb where Oren returned the necklace of fireballs.(edited)   TOMB OF COSMO SON OF RIZON PHOBAS. This Tomb wasn't consecrated. It also had 6 black puddings in it, one on each surface.(edited)   Black puddings were vanquished by the Chosen, with help from Kyrah.(edited)   THE TOMB OF BALMYTRIA This massive tomb dwarfs all the others in the Necropolis. The pristine white marble mausoleum is supported by immense, serpentine pillars. As you draw closer, you realize that these pillars are actually statues that have been carved in the shapes of Dragons.   This is the largest tomb in the Necropolis & is obviously for a Dragon. Xander's in fact.   Unlike most of the art in the Necropolis, the mosaics that line the walls & ceilings here are pristine, almost new in appearance. The panel closest to the entrance depicts Five majestic Dragons of differing metals: silver, copper, gold, bronze, & mithril. A formidable warrior mounted on each Dragon. The next mosaic is dominated by the verdant cost of Thylea. While the Dragins remain aloft, the silver Dragon is shown making landfall on this new continent. Her rider greets a haggard-looking group of Humans on the shore. Subsequent mosaics show Human civilization on the continent blossoming from tiny towns to great walled cities under the leadership of the Dragonlords.   Kyrah explained that the block where the body of Balmytria is interred is 15 feet long, 10 feet wide, & 5 feet high. The block cannot be moved except by one of the Titans or by the Five Gods, but none would be willing to disturb the resting place of Balmytria.   THE TOMB OF NICOLAS BLESSED OF SYDON This Tomb was not consecrated, when touching the sarcophagus Hulgnir was sent to Sydon's throne room & in a single swing could've killed him. Instead he taunted his descendant & mocked him. John looted the tomb before Hulgnir's return after a minute trapped at Sydon’s palace.(edited) The party not doing well decided to rest & decided that the rest of the adventure in the Necropolis of Telamok, when the party decends into the Tomb of Xander Oathsworn of Balmytria.     What shall they discover? Death? Dismemberment? Vorpal bunnies?   Tune in next Friday June 26th at 21:00EDT to find out.
