Session 9, Up the River Report

General Summary

Luminor: 5th: After the fight with the Snappers the group hid the shells, in doing so they found the snapper nest. Inside were scraps of bone and cloth, but also a satchel containing two wands and a small vial with a light green liquid with smoky wisps of black floating in it, plus a divine scroll from the Parish of the Prolific Coin. Reapichirp tried and failed to interpret it.
6th: Reap spends two hours in the morning with the scroll, but still can't figure it out. The group follows the river for another day, making a few miles and spotting the occasional animal, but no sighting of the ranger or any other humanoids.   7th: A few hours into the day Reapichirp, flying 200 feet above the group, spots some figures in the river, hiding behind some rocks, but he can't make out much of them except they appear to have arms. He flies down to warn the group, who approach the rocks carefully. When they are about 70 feet away two lizard men pop out and fire their slings at Sven and Jarvis, both missing. The lizards take up short spears and stand up on the rocks, using the high ground and waiting for the group (very short on ranged weapons) to come to them. They approach a bit quicker while reap flies around and goes low over the river, looking for more lizard men, as Sven told him there are usually more of them than two. Reap finds that lizard, hiding a bit further upstream. Reap spots him just before his sling fires, allowing the Pixie to change course, but not enough to keep from getting hit. Reapichirp takes a very bad hit to the side, bruising his ribs and sending him tumbling, unconscious, to the far side of the swift river. The group eventually defeats the remaining lizards, including a helping shot from a bow from a mysterious stranger.   The stranger introduces himself as Tuso, the ranger they've been looking for. Tuso attempts to swim the river further south, while Tristan ties off a rope to a rock. Flinair is the only party member with the ability to swim, so he tries it, with Tristan tying the anchored rope around his waist. Flin gets into the water, but is quickly swept downstream, unable to fight the powerful current with his meager swimming skills. Tuso also has trouble, barely able to keep himself afloat, eventually forced to swim back to shore.  Flin gets tumbled downshore, taking a bit of drowning damage, but gets swept to the far shore by the currents. Once he recovers his strength he recovers the Pixie's body and the group throws him a rope and pulls him across the water by brute force.   The group tells Tuso what they have come for, and he agrees to return to the fort with them. It takes them six days of travel, but they have no more problems on the way.   13th: Arrive back at the Burrowfort. EoS.
