Session 8, Around the Foothills Report

General Summary

The group rested after their mostly successful ambush of the orgron, orc, and goblins. They determined it likely they were heading to the Tomb.
1st of Lumanor: Group wakes up Reapichirp early so he can scout the Tomb in the pre-dawn hours. He flys around, eventually noticing some movement at the base of the hill, then more movement coming back through the long grass. He moves to another tree to hide, and sees 9 small forms slowly moving up the hill. He sneaks off and reports his findings to the group. The Group decides to go around the tomb, but they make some bad navigational decisions, and find themselves there anyway, at least 500' away. Reap and Jarvis decide to go scout it out, since they were there. Jarvis sneaks into the area while Reap keeps watch. From the base of the hill, as Jarvis is halfway to the hill, comes a chirp of alarm, so Jarvis turns back, but then ahead of him is an answering chirp and some rustling in the small copse of trees there.
Reap sees two goblins with javelins move out of the rocks, going north towards Jarvis, so he flits about to get their attention, staying out of javelin range. He tries one shot with his pixie bow, but it goes far wide. Four more goblins emerged from the trees, moving south and fanning out to search for Jarvis, but thanks to Reap's distraction, he manages to slip away.
2nd of Lumanor: Group makes its way towards the Burrowfort, dragging their prisoner along.
3rd of Lumanor: Group arrives at the fort, turning over their prisoner and asking if there is anyone who speaks goblin to interrogate it. GCPT Spearshield says that they do not have one, but there is a ranger in the area who speaks the languages of the more foul species. He tells them that there is not much more news on his end, as his outriders just returned and met the group on their way back at the Bloodflow Ford. He is distressed to learn of the goblins seemingly lying in ambush at The Tomb, and sends a rider out to catch up to 2nd Squad to warn them. The group stays an extra day for healing, during which time Jarvis gambles with a couple of the outriders, Rend and Elian.   4th of Lumanor: Group set out towards Eastwatch.   5th of Lumanor: Group arrives at Eastwatch in the morning, meeting CPL Mandin, who tells them that the ranger, Tuso Festiana, had been there a few days ago and had said he was going to move north along the river, to investigate some new problem he may have discovered there. The group does not tarry and heads north.
They make camp next to the river, and that night they are attacked by three Snappers that come out of the darkness. They bite Sven and Flinair, beginning to drag them back towards the river. The group finds the shells of the turtles difficult to puncture, and start to look to possibly make called-shots on the limbs. Sven manages to shake free of his assailant, moving around to continue the fight. Flinair gets dragged for a bit and his arm suffers some damage from the constant crunching of the Snapper's beak. Jarvis inflicts some small wounds on the third snapper, until it turns towards the goats. Maly swings at the already hurt monster, taking its head off. She then moves around to the one dragging Flinair, scoring a critical hit that sees that snapper's head leave its body too. Reapichirp and Sven manage to finish off the last turtle as well. The turtle carcasses are cleaned out, some meat cooked for the next day or two, and the shells are cleaned and stashed, as they weight 95lbs each.

Group advised to seek the ranger Tuso Festiana so he can translate with the goblin. He told the guards at Eastwatch that he was investigating some new potential problem.
