Discontent rises across Morat. Faith in King Braitwaite reaches an all time low, as popular opinion is that he has failed to adequately respond to the summoning of the Archdemon Arkmador in Galfroc. While that threat was vanquished, the king couldn't stop his parties and revelry long enough to even assemble a royal guard, let alone a national army or any form of defence. Had Arkmador not been vanquished, would Morat have been next? Sure there were nations between them, but they had standing military presence. Morat had balls and feasts. No one is fighting off an archdemon with a turkey leg, least of all the commonfolk in Morat's many territories. The lords and ladies have heard this displeasure of their people, and have begun to take action. Some armed and trained civilians to form crude militia, and eventually provincial militaries. Spies were assembled, and sent to the capitol and to other territories to learn secrets and report back. Alliances and backroom deals were made. with a great deal of shadowed hand scratching. Rumours of a change on the throne run rampant. Many a lord and lady dream of taking that role themselves, and vie for positions that would potentially lead to such an opportunity. This has only furthered the unrest, as every territory begins to see the others as their adversaries, unless these shaky alliances can hold firm in the months to come...
