Fatemakers Session Nine: What's Yours is Mine...

General Summary

The Fatemakers set out to plunder an Imperial cargo ship, attempting to sneak through Federation skies to Kankos. They follow the ship, called the Journeyman, out of Pickinny Port, following from a distance for awhile. Once the Journeyman officially enters Federation skies and it's escort breaks off, returning to Pickinny, the Fatemakers catch the wind and begin gaining on the Journeyman.   After a solid chase, the Journeyman warns them off, using flag signals. When the Fatemakers continue on, the Journeyman turns to fight; only then does the crew onboard realize Hidekazai had already sabotaged their cannons (see Fatemakers Session Eight: A Pirate's Life for Us!) The The Raven's Fortune is snagged by the Journeyman's "ship-ripper", a specialized ballista intended to grab hold of and rip chunks of the ship out, however, and Hide acts quickly to disable the grappling mechanism which has latched into the ship. Up top, Xander and Volundr fire off their cannons, loaded up with nails, bearings, and other metal objects, like massive shotguns. Xander shreds a few of the disguised Imperial crewmen with the cannon, and the rest of the Fatemakers prepare to board.   It's a brutal and deadly fight, and at some point an Imperial Officer, accompanied by two Imperial Marines, comes above to join the fray. Eventually the Fatemakers wipe most of them out, though it was a sloppy fight, with Evan McDermitt accidentally shooting Volundr at one point! The remaining crewmates of the Journeyman surrender.   The Fatemakers come out with approximately 9 tons worth of stolen cargo (busted automatons leftover from The Necro War,) as well as sky-charts for Imperial territories, and a letter addressed to the Officer onboard the Journeyman regarding the cargo.

Notes

*Letter to Gilfin Furrell:
The letter is written on parchment marked with the Imperial crest. Addressed to Gilfin Furrell, Officer stationed on the Journeyman.

"Furrell, this cargo is to be transported to Kankos. 200 broken automatons, straight from the old battlefields. The Kosian's haven't told us what they're offering yet, but make sure it's something good. One of their machine powered gatling guns could offer us a substantial technological boost, if you could persuade them to part with one. You'll be flying through Federation skies, so we've provided an unmarked vessel for this task. Nobody knows you'll be there, so the free fuckers should leave you alone, if they think you're one of them. Report back once you've arrived at Kankos. -ER"
