Session 28: The Temple of the Aboleth Report
General Summary
Our session begins as the party concludes the battle from the last session and takes a prisoner from the red robed attackers. Sylk and Dwayne stand with the party, as do a band of 50 from the Fae to support the upcoming battles. After some questioning of their new prisoner and a little bit of drowning torture, the party is able to uncover a temple where the abducted members of the Fae were being taken. They also are given directions as to which tunnel leads to the temple, and a warning about it being guarded by acolytes and priests of the Aboleth worshipers. The party quickly strips the red robes from those laying around dead and from the hostage who is unceremoniously draped over Hilgard’s shoulder. Sylk and Dwayne are deceptively bound to appear as if they are prisoners being escorted by the party, while the rest of the fae remain behind in the cavern. The party is able to deceive the guards at the exit to the cave tunnel, who let them through and advise Hilgard to get new robes; his appearing like a miniskirt and not providing much modesty at all. The party descends the mountain and enters a makeshift city of sorts; dwellings of modest accomodations at best with poor food provided freely; fairly tasteless but enough to sustain a person. The pathway towards the temple is uneventful except for the acolytes and cleric/priests who oversee them. The party enters the temple and hears screaming coming from several areas both on the floors above as well as the floors below. Sylk recognizes one set of inhuman screaming below and indicates the party should go down. On investigation of a room, they find a heavily beaten and tied up dryad named Dizzy, her wickerlike body damaged and caved in in places. The party rescues her then moves on to find the next abductee when by chance Incyra catches a glimpse of her long lost sister; someone she hasn’t seen since she was a child and fell through a leyline into the fae. Unexpected but critically important to Incyra, she takes Ilyana with her to follow and try and connect with her sister. The remainder of the party continues on and finds another chamber where one of the sprites is being held in a burlap bag by five guards, readying themselves for tying up and converting the fae creature. The party attacks and kills several of the guards before the rest retreat and get away. The sprite refuses to stay in the bag and instead hides in the robes of the dryad. The party resumes its search, heading up the stairs as the alarm is raised by the guards who escaped. Meanwhile, Incyra and Ilyana follow Elveera to her workplace, making the bread that is served. They confront her, then cast a charm spell, having her lead them away to her dwelling. The hive mind awakens a mob of people who begin to consolidate on Elveera’s dwelling as alarm bells throughout the temple are heard. The remainder of the party ascended the staircase and found a cellblock where the remaining three fae creatures were being held. They were able to trick one into getting locked in an empty cell before attacking and killing two others. One more escaped, and the last they locked up with the other one in the cell. The party of 4 and the fae creatures make for the balcony and descend the pyramid like angled walls using ropes to support them. Our session ends with the party split; one group at the base of the temple with wounded fae and the others located in a surrounded dwelling with a long lost sibling recently released from her mental enslavement.
