Session 28: Endan Dun Report

General Summary

After rescuing Morgan from the clutches of the Kellek cult and meeting a new friend who had also been sent after Morgan, you discussed what had transpired and what you had learned.  Morgan had been interrogated both physically and mystically and something about her experience before your meeting was of particular interest to her interrogators.  She had to find out why and what connection it had to her fall from grace within the Imperial Negresti College of Artificers.   At her request, you all decided to help her investigate further and decided to make your way to Endan Dun: the great Dunohin capitol at the heart of the Mona Dun.  With various possible plans you made the 3 day journey, learning a little more about your new friends along the way.   Upon approaching the city, the fungal forest broke into a wide cleared area that was dotted with what appeared to be more villages and smaller settlements as the traffic on the road thickened.  More than just Drow now walked the road beside you as the many and diverse denizens of this subterranean world traveled to the local seat of power about their own business. The city itself appeared to be constructed in and carved out of a massive stalagmite that stretched high into the air of the cavern.  As you approached you realized that a glowing waterfall was falling from the roof of the cavern and striking the apex of the stalagmite.   Entering the city was at once disorienting and familiar as the typical bustle and hustle of city life enfolded you like a familiar blanket even though the particulars of this city were alien.  Walking down the main thoroughfare from the city gates you arrived at the center of the stalagmite where the waterfall had carved out a core from the rock and flowed down through the center of the city, illuminating many openings and levels above and below the one you now occupied.   After Richard completed some initial investigations by asking questions of someone that appeared to fill the role of city watch, you discovered that you could take a Steeder Taxi to the House Dziet Compound.  After locating an appropriate service, you rode the giant spiders up the wall of the interior core and were deposited in a large hollowed out space that had what appeared to be a stately manor house built inside it bearing the crest of house Dziet.   After being admitted and told that you were expected you were shown into the library of Matron Mother Xare whom you discovered to be the Blue Dragon Jalgados, the Azure Apocalypse, in disguise.  Jalgados told you the hidden history of the Kellek Dominion and how they had once worshipped terrible beings they called The Infinite Lords; but whom the Dragons called The Horrors.   The Horrors had eons ago roamed the face of Korris; heedless of the destruction the left in their wake. All others who lived on Korris had lived in constant fear of The Horrors until the greatest of the Dragons had cast a great spell that expelled The Horrors from Korris, sweeping them into another reality they called The Hollow and Sealing them there.  However, in the final moments of the casting of The Sealing, The Horrors comprehended what was happening and fed back some of their power into the ritual; obliterating the Dragons who were performing it and weakening the barrier allowing some small measure of their influence to penetrate the barrier.   Cults and monsters fell prey to their influence and over the millennia, heroes and keepers of ancient lore have battled the pawns of The Horrors lest they break The Hollow and allow their masters' return.  The Kellek Dominion was the most recent of The Horrors' worshipers to come close to achieving their masters' plans.  But, before they could complete their masterstroke, a great army assaulted The Kellek and the war the ensued saw the Kellek broken, their plans foiled, and their leaders exiled below the surface of Korris.   In the final days of the War, the Kellek were able to finish a ritual which broke open a permanent crack in the skin of The Hollow.  This crack was not large enough to shatter the whole barrier but, could be a catalyst for the breaking of The Hollow.  The crack was created inside a piece of Obsidian Lightshard and was dubbed "Veil Piercer" by its creators.  Veil Piercer was supposedly captured and destroyed at the end of the War but your experiences thus far would be evidence to the contrary.   Her revelation complete, Jalgados dismissed you to discover The Herald's plans and dismantle his organization.  You were given a hefty sum for your service to House Dziet by "Matron Mother Xare" as well as a set of tomes that should let you speak the local language.  You returned to the thoroughfare you had departed from and now must decide your next course.
