3.05 - On Ice

General Summary

The Bad Ideas return from their meeting with Frank Fav'r Bean to the Troubador for the night. The next morning they talk with a painfully hungover Dr Dribbles about their findings to date in the case, the coin and the cloth mentioning Duskport   Of The Spindal Merchant, Frank, he said you are welcome to do with the Curio Shop as you see fit. His only advice was to be careful. He was also very interested in the claims of time travel from the merchant.   Of Duskport he has some information. It is a rumor or a legend in Talus. Duskport was once named Ryleth, the 'capital' of the Eth people who fled the light and dug into the island two millennia ago. It was suppose to have been 'rediscovered' a few hundred years ago and renamed Duskwood. It now serves as a smuggling port with unique connection to the Black Ship Trading Company to transport illicit items to and from the island.   Of the ShadowKi he only knew the location of the writing. Earth, specifically the peninsula of Korea.   Of the coin he knew nothing.   From the Troubadour the team made their way to Cape Horn, stopping first at the Pretty Pony for some failed bargaining on a horse. Fire and Looting were the backup plan, which worked fine for the groups purposes, but they are now banned for life from the stableyard.   At Nick's Place, the team finds a hard drinking detective in an empty apartment. He seems to be leaning into his 'hard boiled PI' persona, perhaps a bit too hard. There might be something bothering the man that he hasn't shared yet.   Nick knows the origin of the coin, pointing up the slope of Cape Horn to a tall building high in Blessed Circle. He called it Aces High. A casino owned by Harold Aces, business man and self proclaimed prophet of the Orange God. Aces High, nick claims, acts as both an entertainment spot and temple for the strange religion.   Nick also directs the group to the Warehouse where the body of Soureye is being guarded. Soureye's body washed up on shore a few days ago, also frozen in ice. Both Prug Gordon and Soureye were dock workers in Cape Horn.   At the warehouse, the party find Soureye, a Grey Man of Night Beyond Sky, frozen in unthawing ice. Before too much could be discovered, the temperature dropped 40 degrees, began to snow, and a howling wind racked the building. Ice began creeping along the walls, ceiling and floor.   The party prepares for something bad.

Character(s) interacted with

Spoke with a deeply hungover Dr Dribbles. In all the time you have known Dr D, you have never actually seen him drink alcohol. He claimed to have 'met a friend' last night   Nick is warming up to you, but clearly in his own time. Part of his dourness might just be his personality. Or it might be something weighing on him. He has been more helpful as of late.   You spoke with two soldiers from the Traskin Occupying Army. They were of the Gold band of the Raptor division. They said their names were Eagle and Falcon.

Notes

Notes: Keep track of your protections and buffs in this upcoming fight. it might be critical. Zizkek's unnatural warmth acts as a 'ring of warmth' for the mechanics. (https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/ring-of-warmth)   AALan has experience with the Traskin Company from his days in Unbroken. He knows that the company security force are well trained and well defended, but are only allowed pacifying energy weapons while in Talas. Even so, they are not to be messed with.
