Session 2 - The Dung Run Report

General Summary

With Sala and Eliott in jail, Kai carrying around a cursed bag, and Ambercoat off to parts unknown, our unlikely heroes find themselves in a pretty delicate predicament. Hope seems to arrive in the form of the Ascended Fynbar and his master Red Jim Robbins, but this hope evaporates as Jim (Rummy to his not-friends) is only there to have a short (ish) drink. Turns out that Red Jim knows the captain of the guard, Murien Thrud, from days of yore, and there's some not-malice there.

Meanwhile, Kai seeks a way to get help for his newly imprisoned friends. He gets led to the lounge to wait for Murien to be free, and sees his companions. He urges them to help Sala and Eliott, but Jim is more interested in finishing his drink first.

Not to worry however! Sala, (PLAYER INTRUSION) it turns out, has a writ of clearance as a monster-hunter. The guards recognize the seal, and Sala and Eliott are released and escorted to the officer's lounge so that they can find a captain to help them on their journey. And lo-and-behold, they find one! Jim happens to have his ship, and is ready to take them (for drink and treasure of course).

They set off for the Talon Stretch, eager to find their dragon doo and make progress on their mission. Unfortunately, they aren't going to have enough time, so drastic measures need to be taken. In this case, they burn the "special logs." After nearly losing Fyn overboard, they burst their way towards the Talon Stretch.

They land and begin the trek into the cold, cold mountains. Along the way, Fynbar notices something of interest... The plants seem to be dying wherever they go. Slowly... But assuredly. Sala makes the connection that it's the bag given to them by the Disciples of Drethe. After traveling for some ways separted, they realize they will need to solve this bag problem. They try multiple tactics, and find no way to get rid of the bag. Finally, Sala activates it (bold move) and... nothing happens.

Unnerved, but slightly relieved, they press on. The find the requisite doo... And see many of the husks of the pods of the Loq'flore plant. The first big surprise... These pods are 6 feet tall, making the flower much larger than anybody anticipated. The second, the dung is crawling with beetles.

After a brief battle with the beetles, the party is able to save the final unopened pod. The Loq'flore emerges, and they discover it's actually a walking plant.
